Quote# 48199

It's rather mistaken to think that Evangelism involves NOT using one's brains or reason. On the contrary, it's mainly those who are skeptical of religion and all things spiritual that end up seeing religion as some sort of wierd fantasy or joke.
Faith is real and it's amazing how limited the human mind and capability appear once you view it from a Spiritual perspective and it's not something you can make up. I'm talking Christian faith here by the way...

Of course you are my brain dead friend.

Just because faith is real, doesn't mean your delusions are.

I'm sorry, was there a point with this?

Faith, the impregnable fortress that protects superstition and myth.

Actually, I am no longer amazed at how limited the human mind is, especially with regards to spirituality.

Christian faith involves using brains or reason, because being skeptical of religion means not using your brains? Not a GREAT argument, you really need to dress it up with a fundy-style lie somehow. Maybe go to the RR folks, they might have an idea, even if they don't, they're good for a laugh.

"Faith is real and it's amazing how limited the human mind and capability appear once you view it from a Spiritual perspective and it's not something you can make up."
Oh yes you can make it up. It's so easy. There's never been a case of someone never hearing of a god, till they see him. Greeks might have hallucinated and had visions of Zeus and Hera, but did not have visions of Lord Ram and His Army Of Monkeys. At least, no such odd anamoly has been noticed, that I have ever heard of.

OMG that makes SUCH a difference.

That's chiefly because evangelical religion generally encourages a comforting delusion that you, in all your ignorant unworldliness, are actually superior to all those fancy-dan college types who use big words you don't know and arguments you can't follow to point out how stupid and insane your beliefs are. Stupid, uneducated people are the bread and butter of cult leaders, especially if they have a chip on their shoulder about it that causes them to resent and be deeply distrustful of cleverness and instinctively refuse to even try to learn anything at a higher level than they've already reached.

Is it just me, or does this sound a lot like when Peter Griffin says he's "above all [us] dumb brainy smarties"?

Mrs. Antichrist

Funny, it was after becoming an atheist that I started to notice how dumb people can be. It honestly baffles me that anyone could take the word of an ancient book, riddled with errors and contradictions, over that of logic and science.

Is Don really saying that faith limits the mind and capability and that's a good thing????

Or did he mean to say how UNlimited they appear?
