Actually, I think liberal is supposed to mean they support freedom and such related rights, which is why our country says it's great, because we're all about freedom.

So, liberals sort of founded the USA.

Now THERE is a statement thoroughly contradicted by reality. This nation was founded upon liberal ideals, such as the crazy, audacious, outrageous notion that people did not need kings ruling them by divine right, but could govern themselves. And every major improvement in the original plans for our nation were proposed and pushed by liberals -- emancipation, women's suffrage, fair labor laws, environmental protection, improved civil rights (for women, children, minorities, and thus gradually for nearly everyone) -- while conservatives have desperately fought against every single one of those improvements.

Liberals are not scum; liberals are the reason we even have such a great country, and conservatives are the reason it hasn't been nearly as great as it could be (especially lately). The only thing conservatives seem interested in conserving is the nation's current headlong dive into disaster.

Considering that the US became a superpower via its participation in the two World Wars - and that in both wars the CiC was a Democrat, and in one of them it was FDR, I have to say that liberals are what made this country great.
At least in geopolitical terms.

You know, most fundies actually vilify most of the things on the list... Birth control, free speech, (listen to them cry persecution once in awhile) Civil Rights, (sometimes directly) Equal Rights...

And if their pastors asked in a really, really angry voice, they might just hate all the rest. So you can pretty much stack on that 'anything that gives power to the people' part at the end there... Fundies are pretty much defined by their surrendering to their faith, and the charlatans in charge of it.
