I know we don't go in for the whole "Word Games = Proof" thing that fundies like, but that little typo in the intro makes me wonder what would happen if someone went around a fundie haven calling her Sharia Palin. And referring to "John, Son of Cain".

It's true. Scary, but true. Too bad so many people are so emotionally needy that they'll give up their intellectual integrity. Of course, that assumes they HAD any intellectual integrity to begin with.
Ah, more lessons in lying with statistics. The Catholic Church could add 10 million members and register only a 1 percent increase. Charles' backwoods gibberish-spouting snake-caressing church could add 10 people (two dimwitted adults and their eight children), and accurately but misleadingly claim to have grown by 200 percent.

The Pentecostals in Africa have also virtually reinstituted the Burning Times. Many children have been cast out of their families because they're suspected of being "witches." Muthee, the Pentecostal pastor who blessed Palin just before she ran for governor, chased a fortune teller named Mamma Jane out of town for supposedly causing several auto accidents through witchcraft. Poor ol' Europe doesn't know what it's missing!

Not in America. The fastest growing church in America is the Roman Catholic Church, which picked up about 5 million members between 1996 and 2004. The Mennonites, Mormons, Quakers, Adventists and Jehovah's Witnesses picked up another million. The biggest losses were among the mainstream Protestant churches, which lost almost 9 million members. The Baptists and Methodists top the list at -6.6 million and -1.3 million, respectively.
All in all, Christianity lost about 2.9 million people between 1996 and 2004, mostly among Baptists and other Protestants.
