[a youtube channel named 'christianskeptics' with a following description]
How can you name a channel Christian Skeptics? Isn't a skeptic someone opposed to religion. Yes. I am opposed to religion, and I'm a Christian. Christianity is not a religion, but atheism is... so it is my intent to prove to you Christianity is not a religion, and that it is backed up with "many infallible proofs."
This channel is for Christians who are skeptical about atheism, darwinism, and all the other distractions, distracting us from what's important... Christ.

"Christianity is not a religion."

re·li·gionnoun
1. a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, esp. when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.
(Sounds like Christianity to me.)
2. a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects: the Christian religion; the Buddhist religion.
(Again, Christianity.)
3. the body of persons adhering to a particular set of beliefs and practices: a world council of religions.
4. the life or state of a monk, nun, etc.: to enter religion.
5. the practice of religious beliefs; ritual observance of faith.
(Check.)
6. something one believes in and follows devotedly; a point or matter of ethics or conscience: to make a religion of fighting prejudice.
(Check.)
7. religions, Archaic. religious rites.
8. Archaic. strict faithfulness; devotion: a religion to one's vow.
Idiom
9. get religion, Informal.
a. to acquire a deep conviction of the validity of religious beliefs and practices.
b. to resolve to mend one's errant ways: The company got religion and stopped making dangerous products.
Wait - so am I reading this wrong? Does this person question whether or not skeptics exist?
I'll have to agree. Sounds pretty skeptical. I might have to read it again, though I am beginning to get lightheaded.
Atheism is a religion. It is a stance on one single belief, so cannot be a belief system, and furthermore its stance is to lack that belief.
Why are you people so stupid?
"so it is my intent to prove to you Christianity is not a religion"
Well, we all need goals, and sometimes if we achieve them, we didn't set the bar high enough. Good luck.

Atheism is not a religion. It is the very opposite of religion. It is disbelief.
Disbelief is no more a "belief system" than blindness is a vision system. This argument is like the claim that all people have a TV, but some people have a TV that is nonexistent.
Now, I'll go back to my comic book store where I dispense the insults rather than absorb them.
No matter how much you say Christianity is a religion, and atheism is, you're still wrong. Christianity is, and always will be, by definition, a religion. Likewise, atheism always will be the opposite of that.
Christianity is based on faith and there is not enough evidence to support all of its claims, therefore it must be a religion.
Atheism is the lack of belief in higher deities, closely associated with a belief only in ideas that are backed by evidence, therefore it cannot be a religion.
I count 1, 2, 3, 4, 5... five individual fails.
"The Jesus Channel: All Jesus, all the time, with none of those annoying reality breaks! And remember, it's all yours for the low, low price of a functioning brain, and your sense of common decency."
Once again, fundie-head...
If atheism is a religion, then its practice is protected explicitly by the First Amendment.
If Christianity is not, then its practice is not protected by the First Amendment.
If you don't like how that works for you, I suggest you quit redefining words to suit you in whatever context you feel like.
skeptic, n. a person who questions the validity or authenticity of something purporting to be factual. A person who maintains a doubting attitude, as towards values, plans, statements, or the character of others.
Not necessarily a doubter of religion, though it may be.
[I am opposed to religion, and I'm a Christian.]
[Christianity is not a religion, but atheism is...]
The cognitive dissonance is strong with this one...
Pfft, depends on the definition of "religion". Atheism can only be "religion" in social sense, just like you could say football is a religion - like-minded people can get together to discuss things and spread the general cheer and concepts to other people. Neither is *in any way* a requirement for atheists. But at the same time, neither are those, strictly speaking, requirements in many branches of Christianity, either: you can follow your personal beliefs in peace and you're under no obligation to convert unbelievers.
He seems a nice, bright lad, but there's an awful lot of regurgitation of Ray Comfort's nonsense.
Who's for a setting up a charitable fund to send him to a good school?

I am religious on the topic "Is licorice better than chocolate?" Licorice wins, every time.
I religiously avoid wearing the "wrong" T-shirt at a ball game, because I have a personal relationship with my team and my team only.
At work, we went out for Chinese food religiously every Friday, because the alternative was some unspecified and poorly prepared fish dish.
Atheism isn't a religion, you fatuous fool. It's just a fact of life. No catechisms, no commandments, no bible to read, no Sunday services, no tent revivals, no special outfit to wear.
Confused?
