Quote# 48322

In many ways, Conservative style is the antithesis of the style adopted by Liberals.

The style of a conservative often includes these characteristics:

-A willingness to debate openly on all aspects of an issue or problem, without being tramelled by ideological preconceptions.

-Readiness to take responsibility for the consequences of ones words and deeds.

-Not using fluff or obfuscating but telling it as it is.

-Behaving with decency towards other people, and treating the opposite sex with respect.

"treating the opposite sex with respect." actually means men (the protector/master) treating women (chattels, weak) as tender little flowers.

The preent presidential campaign shows just how willing conservatives are to debate openly, take responsibility, avoidance of fluff and flannel, and behave with decency.

Not.

None of those qualities (with the debatable exception of respect for the opposite gender) are inherent in either political stance. There are asshole conservatives and asshole liberals, decent conservatives and decent liberals. Which side happens to be right on a particular issue bears no relation to how they behave about it, not least because the side that's wrong tends to believe they're right and behave as if they were.

Conservapedia is a great example of all these thing

For instance their willingness to debate openly - unless of course they don't like what you say then they'll ban yourass.

Rediness to take responsibility for their words and deeds - unless you question people like Andrew Shaffley about why he keeps banning people 'cause he'll ban your ass for that.

And of course they always tell it like it is. Especially when if they say ANYTHING which disagrees with Shaffley he'll ban them.

Yep sounds totally fair & open to me.

"... Conservative style is the antithesis of the style adopted by Liberals."

Not necessarily true. There are rude jackasses in all political parties.

"A willingness to debate openly on all aspects of an issue or problem..."

Is that why Bill O'Reilly screams and insults anyone who disagrees with him? Watch some Faux News sometime; all their talking-heads do is shout down any dissenters, no matter what they say.

"Readiness to take responsibility for the consequences of ones words and deeds."

Like the adulterers Bakker and Swaggart, who tried to hide it?

"Not using fluff or obfuscating but telling it as it is."

Again, watch some Faux News. Anyone with a dissenting viewpoint is called a "traitor," "disloyal," "unpatriotic," etc. They never deal with the arguments of their opponents, they just insult everyone.

"Behaving with decency towards other people..."

Such as Michael Savage, who calls everyone insulting (and sometimes obscene) names?

aaa

I wonder when you are going to actually do all of those things.

"Willingness to debate on all aspects of a problem, without being trammeled by ideological preconceptions"

You mean like how you immediately shut down any debate of your opinions with accusations and attacks on patriotism? See: Faux News

"Readiness to take responsiblility for one's words and deeds"

You mean like how the Republicans have been screaming on every media outlet since the day after the election, trying to blame Obama and/or the Democrats for the crash of the worldwide economy, or how they spent the entire Bush administration blaming everything he screwed up on Bill Clinton?

"Not using fluff or obfuscating but telling it as it is"

See: Faux News

"Behaving with decency toward other people..."

You mean like how anyone who has and even slightly different veiwpoint from yours is said to hate America and called a traitor, people who need abortions are called murderers, or gay people are called perverts? See again: Faux News

The style of a conservative often includes these characteristics:

-A willingness to debate openly on all aspects of an issue or problem, without being tramelled by ideological preconceptions.

Especially when they are trying to ram "Creation Science" down our throats whilst shouting "Goddidit! Goddidit!"

-Readiness to take responsibility for the consequences of ones words and deeds.

Case in point, one Kent Hovind, who is in prison and still denying that he is guilty of income tax evasion.

-Not using fluff or obfuscating but telling it as it is.

"Mission accomplished!" "Saddam Hussein has weapons of mass destruction!"

-Behaving with decency towards other people, and treating the opposite sex with respect.

Because denying women access to education, healthcare and contraception, telling them they aren't as smart as men and teaching them to be submissive EVEN IF THEIR HUSBAND IS A COLOSSAL ABUSIVE ASSHOLE is respect.

What have we learned here today, kids? CONSERVATIVES LIE. A LOT.

That sounds just like common sense and ordinary respect, nothing to write home about.

"Behaving with decency towards other people, and treating the opposite sex with respect."
Isn't that the same thing said twice? The opposite sex consists of "other people" too, you know, no need to single them out specially.

Funnily I can't connect any of these characteristics with Baby Bush, or with Nixon, or...

Conservatives have never come to a meeting with liberals or socialists or communists with ideological preconceptions, noooo! (Ouch, I think my appenix just ruptured from too much laughter.)

"A willingness to debate openly on all aspects of an issue or problem, without being tramelled by ideological preconceptions."

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...Ever hear Rush Limbaugh actually take a call from a liberal? Ever hear him, or any of them, for that matter, doing anything other than scream at anyone with a differing opinion? HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA...*wipes tears*

This all made me do a double take. And the last one I gave a huge, "WTF?"

I've encountered few fundies more misogynistic than Conservapedia online.

Seriously? Do they really believe this shit that spews from their cock suckers? Do they not actually watch Fox News, but just turn it there, and pretend that they're honest and true?

OMG, my jaw literally hit the ground on this one.

Homosexuals, feminists and wiccans are "other people", do you guys at Conservapedia behave with decency towards them?
Are you ready to debate with them openly and calmly?

We only need to change one word in this quote to make it correct, in general (there are exceptions to every rule).

The style of a conservative liberal often includes these characteristics:

Lies, at least with your brand of convervatism.

No, you're are not opposites, you are farily close on the political spectrum, at least internationally. You know, in countries with more than just two right-wing parties.
