[dicussing an Obama sign in a neighbours lawn}
I definitely wouldn't be waving at them anymore after seeing that sign!
Anyway, whenever I hear the left try to say voting for McCain means a third term for GWB tell them voting for Obama means a second term for Jimmy Carter. I think the American people would take a third GWB term over a second Jimmy Carter term anyday!

if we had kept Jimmy carter instead of reagan, we would have had alternative energy by now.
Really, are republicans really that unaware of how much they have sucked these last 3 decades?
You are not going to be neighborly because of a sign? Your an idiot.
At least Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton have done something with their lives after their presidency was over. Habitat For Humanity and the Global Initiative (sp?) among other things.
What did Reagan and Ford do and what has Bush I done? Really, I'm not being sarcastic. It doesn't seem to me that the Republican presidents do alot in their retirement, for the good of the country, nothing that the media cares to cover anyway. I could be wrong though? Anyone?
(I know the Betty Ford clinic, but that was his wife)

If by "the American people" you mean the handful of Republicans who still support W, then you'd be right.
I'd rather have a Hamster for prez. Or, rather, I would if I lived in the US. Heck, as a Canadian I'd STILL rather have a hamster for prez.
Spoken by somebody who probably barely remembers anything that Carter actually achieved. Let's see, who should we emulate--the formerly-drunken frat boy with no command of the English language, or the guy who made Habitat for Humanity famous and won the Nobel Peace Prize?
Gimme Carter any day of the week.
Jimmie Carter presided during an unprecedented economic disaster during which the prime rate shot from 6 1/2% to almost 20%. How much was his doing, and how much of the eventual decline was Reagan's doing is open to question. The rates didn't come down into single digits until Reagan's second term. He also presided over the Iran hostage crisis, which he failed miserably to solve; although again, Reagan had nothing to do with the eventual resolution.
There's no question that Carter was a weak and ineffectual president, just as Bush is a swaggering and ineffectual president. But there's no connection between his policies and those promoted by Obama, other than the same party affiliation.
Jimmy Carter?
The guy who started the energy / oil thing and put solar panels [not PVs, but hot water solar is better than nothing] on the White House?
Yeah I'd want another term of that.
A man who served his country operating a nuclear reactor vs a wartime deserter who can't even pronounce nuclear reactor. Which would make a better president?
If you've been watching for the past 8 years you know the answer to *that* question.
"I think the American people would take a third GWB term over a second Jimmy Carter term anyday!"
Jimmy Carter: Created the Department of Energy and the Department of Education; established a national energy policy that included conservation and new technology; reduced dependency on foreign oil by 50%; pursued the Panama Canal Treaties and a second round of Strategic Arms Limitations Talks; strengthened human rights and negotiated peace between Israel and Egypt among other accomplishments.
Is it really necessary to list all of Bush's "achievements" against Carter's?
Wrong!!! Carter was an honest, caring, and well-meaning, if inept President. I have seen nothing to suggest that honesty, trying to help his country (except the rich bigtime GOP contributors, his war-profiteer budies, and the big oilmasters that have bought him), or real concern for his country's effect on world peace have ever crossed that selfish oaf Bush's limited brain. He is agreedy ratbastard who has sacrificed his country's economy and well-being for his even greedier friends and contributors.

Just becauase they support a diffrent political canidate than you does not mean you can still be polite to them.
[Anyway, whenever I hear the left try to say voting for McCain means a third term for GWB tell them voting for Obama means a second term for Jimmy Carter. ]
Carter may have not been very bright himself, but he was sure a hell of a lot better than Bush. Atleast Carter was honest.
[ I think the American people would take a third GWB term over a second Jimmy Carter term anyday! ]
Actually, this American would like a president thats not a total moron for once.
What we need is good president, like what Ben Franklin or FDR were.
You sad, sad creature. Is your purpose in life little more than to divide people between good/bad, Christian/Unchristian, McCain/Obama?
I guarantee I'm even more left than Obama. I have friends who are voting for McCain. This does not bother me in the least.
I definitely wouldn't be waving at them anymore after seeing that sign!
Love thy neighbor. You're going to Hell. Have a nice trip.
I think the American people would take a third GWB term over a second Jimmy Carter term anyday!
We don't pay you to think. And that is why you're going bankrupt.
Maybe you need to elect McCain/Palin to really appreciate someone who is actually not an evil guy with a deluded housewife as running mate. If you want to ruin your country, go ahead. Just make sure the rest of the world will not be dragged down with you. I can't see what most of us have done to deserve the effects of your irresponsible actions.
I think the American people would take a third GWB term over a second Jimmy Carter term anyday!
You thought wrong, kiddo. Interesting fantasy, though. Vaguely.
You know what's really sad? Is how they all sat in that thread and laughed at the suggestions to deface the neighbor's sign by painting Communist and Islamic symbols on it and putting an "N" in front of "Obama" (to say "NObama". They think that's really clever.) One person came along and said, "I really hope you guys are just joking about defacing the signs". No one said a word about it. They just kept laughing about the suggestion.
And those sick fucks over at RR think they have a grasp on true love, joy and compassion? Why don't they try showing it sometime instead of acting like childish cunts over who their neighbors choose to vote for?
Have you seen GWB's approval ratings? Lowest in history. As in, Lower than Carter's. As in, you're wrong, you lose.
PS: Not fundie. If we're going to be political, let's just make a "conservatives say the darndest things" Or a "politcal asshats say the darndest things"
Well we have conservative fundies and liberal fundies so I don't think we need a place especially for conservative conservative fundies.
Seriously, another GWB term? For God's sake I'm considering changing my major because I cannot trust the economy for student loans! MY FUTURE IS IN JEOPARDY BECAUSE THIS FUCKING DOUCHEBAG FROM TEXAS WON THE WHITE HOUSE RACE AND PROCEEDED TO SEND US OFF TO WAR AND THE ECONOMY TO HELL.
This is more political than fundie.
As a European I can only comment as an outsider. That someone cannot see the national and global damage caused by the present US administration is an indicator of stupidity to the point of insanity. Such a person does not deserve a vote - for the sake of their country! Typical of RR, of course.
GWB lied and deceived the American people (and some Europeans)into an unwinnable war. It has run the American economy into deeper shit that ever. It has wrecked the world economy too - subprime stuff. Now the lunacy is to be compounded by pumping about 3/4 of a trillion dollars into the mess. This means probably that every man, woman and child in the US will be personally in debt to a fairly substantial tune... and where are the riots and protests? Are Americans sheep for the fleecing? I could weep for America.
And RR is only worried about a third term for GWB in the person of McCain. Well I say that GWB has done so badly that to relinquish power could be the most dangerous thing for him... He would likely end up behind bars if there were true justice. Or perhaps he will stage an event to remain on... There's a fearful thought!
on the same thread:
"McCain wants to tune up a fine economy that's having a little engine problem. Obama wants to replace a fine automobile with a Lada."
The US (and UK) financial markets are in meltdown, requiring massive public cash injections (a socialist solution), and he describes it as a fine economy. And that's before we consider that "communist" China OWNS the States in terms of supporting its debt.
And elsewhere on the site people call "universal health care" socialist, rather than a way that the community looks after its weakest.
Please Jesus take them soon....
I would take ol' Jimmy Peanut in a minute over bloody Bush & his cronies. At least Jimmy worked (and is still working) for peace in the Mid-East and around the world, as opposed to Bush lying us into a pointless and unwinnable war. I did not give birth to this herd of beautiful, intelligent children just so they could be used for cannon fodder. I think their chances are better under Obama than under McCain.
God, you people make me fucking sick. Completely ignorant of issues, talking about defacing someone else's property. EEK! guess what, asshole? Millions of kids died in Darfur and you're getting upset over a fucking SIGN in a yard? I hope you die painfully.
On a British comedy show "Have I got news for you?", a British comedian asked an American comedian "doesn't your country ever wish for a president with a three digit IQ?". He replied "we tried that. We had Carter. Didn't work. I guess we're just not a three digit IQ country."
Made me laugh anyway :-) Apologies to any three-digit IQ Americans who may be reading this (hell, it means you can laugh at yourselves, which is something that fundies can't do).
I could understand blowing off the neighbors if they had a sign in their yard saying "We eat babies!" But an Obama sign?
And btw, if we'd listened to Carter instead of reviled him, we wouldn't be in the mess we're in now wrt energy.
I'm going to ignore the obvious economic problems because they've been covered here already.
As a mother to school aged children I DON'T want someone who might feel obliged to support the educational policies of the current adminstration.
I'm tired of watching my child suffering through boredom because of No Child Left Behind and Reading First. I'm tired of their school losing funding because they don't make AYP based on the scores of the special ed students. Anyone who thinks that EVERY child can do grade level work has to be a box of rocks.
My oldest is getting close to middle school age and I want comprehensive sex ed, yes he'll get it at home but it's nice for it to be taught at school.
Number of terrorist attacks on American Soil during Carter's term: 0
Number of wars started by Carter without provocation: 0
You see where i'm going with this....
Carter's presidency was hurt by his unwillingness to work with Congress, and the lack of a stable economic policy. As for the hostage crysis, he did successfully resolve the situation, however, the Iranians would not release the hostages until Regan took office. Carter was a better president after he left office. We'll probably say the same about Dubya, only not for the same reasons.
If you think that, you'd be wrong, moron. Unless, of course flushing away the entire economy was a great idea.
Marty, I may be Australian, but I have US citizenship. And by "your" America, I mean THEIR America, which is, from my point of view, a very different America (seeing as how it exist only in their heads).
Nonetheless, criticism accepted. Which word would you most prefer? Ruination? Annihilation? Deletion?
"I'd rather have a Hamster for prez. Or, rather, I would if I lived in the US. Heck, as a Canadian I'd STILL rather have a hamster for prez."
Boo for president! ^^

(You wouldn't disagree with Minsc, would you?)
He also presided over the Iran hostage crisis, which he failed miserably to solve; although again, Reagan had nothing to do with the eventual resolution.
Reagan's cronies were on the horn to Iran during the hostage crisis, telling them to drag it out until "St." Ronnie the Senile was sworn in as POTUS. So yeah. Reagan and his GOP would rather score political points than rescue hostages.
Notice how he did not compare him to Bill Clinton. Maybe the uninformed right finally realize that GWB blew the 200 billion budget surplus that Bill left, and transformed it into a bucket with no bottom, losing 400+ billion a year.
I'd take humble, if inept, Carter over GWB. Why didn't that year-0 curse hit GWB?
The rest of the world would very much NOT have a third GWB term. We have barely recovered from the financial slump he dropped us in during the lates term, we do not need another one that soon.
And we DO NOT want Caribou Barbie as president of the one super power left.

Not gonna wave? Oh nooooooooes!!!!!!!
@thejebusfire, Ben Franklin was not a president. (Unless you count being president of a stove company.)
But he'd probably be better than Bush.
Confused?
