Humans are naturally curious. They will always want to explore the world. In the distant past they used stories of deities as creators to explain things. Then they grew up as a species and started discovering more sophisticated explanations for the way things are.

The trouble with the scientists is, being naturally curious, after they read Gen 1:1 they moved ever onward and upward to Gen 1:2 and found the most amazing discrepancies.
