Christians: A lot of atheists say that they will be glad when we are taken in the Rapture?

But don't you think they will mourn when their innocent children are taken in the Rapture also?

Answer : They'll probably be happy to be rid of them, as it will give them more time to spend with themselves. See, they love themselves more than anything else. If they actually cared about their children, they wouldn't be playing roulette with their soul by not teaching them about Jesus Christ.

There is no rapture. Obviously.

Papabear

We say that in jest as we understand that the rapture will never happen.

P.S. According to your Bible, no one, not even infants, is innocent. Read your whole Bible, not just your hole.

The rapture reminds me too much of Jesus Christ meets Star Wars for me to take it seriously.

CaseAgainstFaith

its only wishful thinking that there will be a rapture but since we are smart enough to know its not going to happen we just continue on.

The rapture isn't even in the damn bible.

I also say, "Thank god I'm an atheist." Just to watch their brains go 'splodey.

Ooh, I thought he was going to mention that we atheists love to abort our children after they are born, but no, he mentions gambling instead! Well done for not using such a big cliche, Mr. Fundie!

My child is learning about Christianity because its deeply ingrained in the culture and traditions of my area. My child is free to choose between any religion or no religion. All I ask is that my child think about the decision. I do this because I love my child.

You fail.

"See, they love themselves more than anything else"

[Insert witty masturbation joke here.]

"If they actually cared about their children, they wouldn't be playing roulette with their soul by not teaching them about Jesus Christ."

Show valid evidence that such a thing as a "soul" exists outside of delusional religious propaganda.

I thought everyone, including/especially babies, were born with original sin. Therefore, there is so such thing, to you fundies, as an 'innocent child'.

We could even stretch that to include when you claim abortion kills 'innocent babies'. They're not innocent to you, they're full of sin, right? Original sin?

No, because unsaved children aren't going to be raptured.

Also, I'm a virgin, so I'm personally unaffected.

Unless some sort of crazy plot device stole my DNA!

We need to resurrect RTFM, except that in this case it'll be RTFB.

Wow. Some fundie actually thought of atheists as human beings who love their kids and stuff, but of course, they had to have that thought shot down.

What to teach a young child about Jesus Christ:

"He wanted to be nice to other people, even the mean ones. Some stupid mean people killed him, and some other stupid mean people are still telling lies about him, even though they killed him two thousand years ago.

"The thing to remember is to be nice to other people. Watch out for the stupid people though. You're four years old now, so you can tell real easy who they are."

But...didn't Jesus say you had to be baptized to be saved...? So the innocent little chilluns will be left behind after all...

*shifty eyes*

I...mean...that's preposterous. Who would do such a thing?

If they actually cared about their children, they wouldn't be playing roulette with their soul by not teaching them about Jesus Christ.

Well, if we're going by all the religions that ever existed, that revolved has something like ten thousand chambers.

Obviously the original poster failed to understand the fact that the atheists who are saying that they will be glad when the Rapture comes are being sarcastic and the second person is just a dick.

And I don't have kids, but when/if I ever do have kids, I will love them enough to teach them that they are capable of being good worthy people on their own. As opposed to teaching them that they are bad and wicked and going to burn for eternity if they don't spend their lives bowing down to some invisible being in the sky.

So are the children saved or not? Can fundies hold a coherent line for more than four or five words?

Oh yes, atheists all actually believe in God and Jesus, they just deny them because it's soooo rebellious! /sarcasm

But don't you think they will mourn when their innocent children are taken in the Rapture also?

(a) the "Rapture" is a lot of nonsense. People have been saying it's going to happen "any day now" for the last 1,900 years.

(b) The Bible doesn't say innocent children will be Raptured. According to the Bible, if you ain't both a believer and baptized, you ain't goin'. And since all these Rapture Ready nuts are either Baptists or some southern US redneck cult that differs from Baptists in name only, it's a good chance their children are neither believers (not at the "age of accountability") nor are baptized.

9/29/2008 10:54:42 PM

Of course we'll be happy when our innocent children are raptured. We won't have to take the time to murder them that way.

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Your Bible says children aren't innocent.

Try again.

Depends on whom you talk to. The Left Behind crowd believes that all children under the Age of Acountability (age 8) will get Raptured automatically.

"Also, I'm a virgin, so I'm personally unaffected."

There are several folks here on FSTDT who would be happy to cure you of this unfortunate condition.
