I used to be a passionate rationalist, but I have since realized the folly of it. Its a religion that is even more dangerous than Islam fundamentalists, because at least with the fundamentalist it is a known quantity that people politically fight against. Who fights against our own hubris and blind faith in scientific certitude? The average person believes in scientific realism despite very clear methodological proofs to its fallacy.

"Oh yes," Darling moaned eagerly, arching provocatively upon the silks, "spray your proofs all over my drawing board!"
"The average person believes in scientific realism despite very clear methodological proofs to its fallacy."
So, there is methodological proof that methodological proof, in general, is fallacious? Is paradox creation a hobby of yours, or is this a one-time thing?
Who fights against our own hubris and blind faith in scientific certitude?
Whoever that is, I hope that person will sweep up the straw afterward.
"Who fights against our own hubris and blind faith in scientific certitude? The average person believes in scientific realism despite very clear methodological proofs to its fallacy. "
And you type this on a computer invented by that same fallacy, with the the certitude that your typings will be deposited on the internet which was also invented with the same fallacy.
"The average person believes in scientific realism despite very clear methodological proofs to its fallacy."
For much the same reason that the average person does not believe in magic after watching someone allegedly sawn in half and put back together again. We know it's a trick. Your proofs are clearly circular in nature, and consist mainly of word games. That you can't see that your methodology is dishonest and flawed says that you are either a bullshit artist or a dupe.

Anyone who thinks rational thought is folly needs a quick dope slap and a free pass back to kindergarten.

No, what's dangerous is people trying to run their lives and our societies based on irrational ideas.

We don't have blind faith in science, we examine all the credible evidence available to us before we draw conclusions.
"The average person believes in scientific realism despite very clear methodological proofs to its fallacy."
The sub-average person accepts outrageous assertions supported by little or no credible evidence. See yourself in this, rot?
Please provide all credible evidence showing that the scientific method is flawed. Go ahead. I'm waiting.
This is what I never get about these idiots...
If there is one dream every scientist has, it would be to discover something that turned established science upside down. It would ensure their place in history, ensure riches and fame and a trip to Stockholm to pick up a Nobel Prize, free choice of research institutions to work for, an almost unlimited amount of funding .. I mean the list goes on and on..
And these idiots think scientists are not interested in overturning existing science?
So, let me see if I understand this...
There's scientific proof...that science is always wrong?
...can somebody put up that comic where the guy's youtube comment gets read out to him before he posts it?
wow what a bunch of pseudo-intellectual bullshit.
if you have blind faith in anything, you can't be a rationalist, much less a passionate one.
its hilarious you attack science using the very essence of science
To be fair to "rot", science does have the "Problem of Induction" (though some dispute it.) But if induction is truly unreliable, it still really doesn't help or support his worldview, either.
For you to to call rationalism folly is the same as saying "You cant take anything I say seriously."
It would be the same if you straight out claimed that all methods of communication are absurd, then tried to use communication to argue your point.
Could this be more accurately defined as an "anti-poe" or "bizzaro poe"?
I'm inclined to believe that this might be someone who has never been anything other than a fundie pretending to be an "ex-rationalist" to somehow seem more convincing.
Let's see now...
Conversion of Europeans into christianity + ensuing wars in Europe between different cults - 260 million deaths.
Conversion of Native Americans into christianity - 100 million deaths.
Conversion of Polynesians into christianity - 42 million.
Conversion of Asian continent into christianity - 480 million deaths.
The crusades (combined) 116 million deaths - estimated, and the crusaders killed more christians than of all other faiths combined because they were wearing turbans (like Obama did)
The most dangerous religion of all is fundamentalist christianity, and its passing will be a blessing to all humanity.
Confused?
