Mortok, he wasn't a Christian pop star in the sense of creating explicitly Christian music, but it seems as if large amounts of his following were fundies. He won American Idol and, regardless of the fact that he had the gay and it was terribly obvious even before he told us, got a 'wholesome' image and attracted more silly conservative women than you'd expect. Not that I watch American Idol or anything, I get all my entertainment news filtered through snark communities, but yeah, the intersection of rabid Christianity and rabid fandom produces quite interesting things.
