Let's make something very clear that is not an opinion. Absolutely agreed is the decision that people can't choose their sexual orientation. NO ONE KNOWS WHY PEOPLE PORTRAY PARTICULAR SEXUAL TENDENCIES. However, you CAN choose to live a homosexual or heterosexual lifestyle. No one forces you to do either one. So logically, homosexuality is a choice that one makes and homosexual or heterosexual tendences are not a choice but a state of mind.

Just because an individual has an alcohol problem, doesn't mean he or she has to drink. In the same way, just because one feels gay, doesn't mean they have to be that way! The Liberal community needs to shut up and stop telling people they must live a homosexual lifestyle if they feel that way, and the conservative community needs to shut up and stop telling people orientation is a choice!

Except the "liberal community" isn't telling anybody shit. If you want to repress your sexual orientation, make yourself miserable and eventually hang yourself, you're free to do that.
But wouldn't it better to explore your sexuality, be open about it and eventually find someone you can actually love?
And even if orientation were a choice, isn't being able to do what you want (as long as it doesn't hurt others) the whole fucking POINT of America?
Just because an individual has an alcohol problem, doesn't mean he or she has to drink.
Try to understand: while your argument might make logical sense when considered in the abstract, in the brain of an addict the very mechanism that handles such arguments has been overwhelmed by the effects of the drug. In the same way, a homosexual will struggle to simply decide to ignore his biological instincts and drives because they are a far more fundamental part of his mental structure, present since birth, than any logical mechanism installed by nurture since then. In principle he could do it, especially if external pressures were sufficiently high (fear of arrest, humiliation and imprisonment are traditional), but since there is nothing inherently wrong with homsexuality and it harms neither society nor the individual, why would you ever impose such constraints?
I think what this guy is saying is "you arent gay by choice, but you can chose to be a celibate "ex-gay" who spends your life hating yourself"
Or something.
At least they accept it isn't a choice. Which is a start. Shame about the bullshit that follows.
a gay person may choose NOT to act on their nature and instincts.
But why should we? We do fuck all damage to society compared with broken marriages, single parent families, overbreeding. We are also the ones expected to be carers for parents (since we don't have "proper" commitments).
I would say that our net financial contribution to society is disproportionate.
The only issue is SIN.
And sin doesn't exist.
"people can't choose their sexual orientation....So logically, homosexuality is a choice "
You're a moron.
And it's YOU who's trying to tell people what lifestyle to live, not the liberals.
I largely agree with this, but it's probably not healthy to go around thinking that your sexuality somehow makes you evil, or inferior to others.
Plus, it means that homosexual relationships should still be accepted by society, since amehos' response is clearly based on religious choice.
So, in short, amehos has claimed that his/her religion is potentially harmful to homosexuals, and that God creates people who will simply have a hard time in life, as a result of his actions. Way to go. *clap...clap...clap*
The posts are crap, today. Once again, I see no evidence of any sort of religious leanings, much less fundamentalism. Triple meh.
Listen, moron, it's thanks to 'evil liberals' throughout history that you are allowed to worship whatever dipshit deity you want, so how about showing a little respect and gratitude for the freedoms you take for granted that were won by other people on your behalf. Twat.
Yes! Anyone can CHOOSE to live a lonely, sexless life.
But only a sick, self-hating person would do so.
"Just because an individual has an alcohol problem, doesn't mean he or she has to drink."
Try telling that to the homeless man drinking mouthwash downtown...
"In the same way, just because one feels gay, doesn't mean they have to be that way! "
Why do you choose to act like a retard?
In the same way, just because one feels gay, doesn't mean they (sic) have to be that way.
And the same goes for straights, right amehos?
Anyone notice how the "homosexuality = alcoholism" argument has become the new flavor of the week for the far-right?
It's as if they've realized that they can't keep saying that it's a choice, or people will realize that they're wrong. So they're giving that ground and move back into this argument.
Wait a minute, this is THE Sarah Palin? I thought it was someone's user name, having a laugh. And this person got to be within a few per cent of leading America should McCain keel over? Terrifying.
As to what she says, there's simply no doubt in her "mind" that homosexual conduct equates with being a drunk. This isn't proved or even argued for, it's just assumed. She doesn't sound as though she has spent one second of her life trying to imagine what being gay is like, listening to gay people, empathising with the abuse they have to endure. Like fundies everywhere she doesn't see the need for such intellectual exertion. She knows she's right.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
