To be honest all this evolution and cosmology stuff goes right over my head. And it usually bores me to tears so I have not read the thread. However, could someone answer this. If we supposedly evolved from monkey's why are there still monkey's.

I don't see why should anyone bother to answer you when:
(1) that question has BEEN answered endlessly already in the myriad articles and posts that "bore you to tears," and
(2) you make it quite clear that you won't subject yourself to it anyway, or will just claim that it "goes over your head" so that you don't have to assimilate the new knowledge.
However, just so nobody can say we didn't try, here goes: The various types of monkeys, apes, and humans ALL evolved over many millions of years from common ancestry. The current apes and monkeys are not "less evolved" than we are; they are just DIFFERENT from us, having evolved to fit different ecological niches.
Have fun Ponderin that.

"I'm not stupid but I don't get it, That picture confuses me. I shouldn't listen to this. That's not what my church says. Hovind can explain that."
It's an endless run of willfully ignorant
If that goes over your head, you won't understand.
Go back to church, don't vote and don't procreate.
Perhaps because, oh, I dunno, WE DIDN'T EVOLVE FROM MONKEYS?
I wish they'd get it through their heads, the fundies who say things like this. Then again, they haven't much brain to get it into.

To be honest, all this Creationism and 'faith stuff makes my brain weep. And it usually makes my IQ level go down a few points, so I have to read something intelligent & factual to restore it's level. However, could a fundie answer this: if we supposedly are related from Adam, 'created' by God, why is there still dirt?
first, we did not evolve from modern monkeys. they are our cousins, not ancestors. they evolved alongside us on a different family tree.
second, thats like asking "If Americans are descended from Europeans, why are there still Europeans?"
English moth ...
Oh fuck it.
Translation: I was never listening, and never will. But you can keep on talking if you want to.
Also, we did not evolve from monkeys, but rather alongside them, from a shared genetic ancestor.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
