[About CT's decision to overturn ban on homosexuality]
This is tyranny! A 5-4 decision. Our courts are out of control. If Obama gets elected it's just going to get worse. Several supreme court justices will be running to the retirement line. If Obama gets elected, it will literally be the end of America!

Oh wow. If Obama wins this election, one of the first things I'm going to do is browse various websites to see what they'll say. This forum is one of them.
Tyranny? How is that tyranny?
I'll bet "Brown v. Board of Education" was judicial tyranny to them, too. And if it had gone 5-4 the other way, don't you know, those judges would have been godly and wonderful.
But slight comment on the comment--homosexuality is and was perfectly legal there, at least as far as identifying as L, G, or B and having sex. What was legalized was same-sex marriage.
Oh noez!! Other people are getting the right to do something that totally does not affect you in any way, shape, or form!! Christians are being persecuted, yet again!
"Our courts are out of control."
I know. How dare they interpret what is right and wrong by precedent of the Constitution. The status quo is always right, especially if imposed by mob rule.

Does it make me a bad person that my first thought was, "Good!"?

The world has existed for billions of years without "America" and has done just fine.
The whole function of the courts in our government is to put a check on the legislature and governor/president to prevent them from creating and enacting laws that violate citizens' rights, violate the Constitution (whether state or federal), or pretty much do anything else to abuse their law-making or law-enacting powers.
So all these justices did, was review the Connecticut Constitution, found that the prohibition of gay marriage was in conflict with the Constitution, and ruled therefore that the prohibition was unconstitutional.
In other words, THEY DID THEIR JOB.
Yes, same-sex marriage is now legal in Connecticut. My friend and his partner took advantage of the court's decision and were married on the first day. Their picture ran with the Hartford Courant 's story on it. They look as happy as any other couple would be and so does their daughter. Why would any decent person want to take that away from them? BTW, God never sote the neighboring state of Massachusetts, when it declared same-sex marriage legal and where this couple were first wed.

'Literally'? Really? Wow. Where's America going to go then? Or is it just going to change its name?
Sorry, not seeing the fundie here, bigoted and stupid yes, but a posting on Rapture Ready is not in itself automatically fundie. Rated 3.
Wait, tyranny? How? It doesn't affect you. It's not like Obama would go around forcing guys to marry other guys or something.
You fail. Go invest in a dictionary.
Ha! Take that, fundies!
I've lived in New York all my life, but I was born in Connecticut, and my family and I actually live right near the border between the two states. I'm so happy about the court's decision and I really hope that New York follows suit soon.
Tyrrany?
Representatives voting legitimately, at nearly a tie, on an important issue is tyrrany?
I don't think that word means what you think it means.
Okay, a 5-4 decision is tyranny. It's tyranny when a bill passes due to only 55.6% support, yet when a smaller percentage, 52%, support prop h8 and it passes, it's simply democracy.
Funny how the definitions of both words fit according to your view. I smell no hypocrisy at all!
So, how's the ban on people with beard-growth doing...?
It would surely be TYRANNY to let just anyone walk around with hair-follicles in their faces, right?
Obama was elected, twice, and America did not end. On the contrary, it was sloooowly beginning to pull itself out of the abyss which Dubbya dropped it into.
But then the Orange Clown was elected, and that might literally be the end of not just America, but the world as a whole.
Confused?
