[This is the purpose of the "Truth for Youth" program]
An army of God's young people
are being enlisted with a mission... to legally smuggle Bibles into America's public schools!
In response to the tragic killings of students and teachers, we have launched a national “Bibles Not Bullets” campaign to legally smuggle Bibles into the public schools of America! Consider this: There has never been one law passed to prohibit the distribution of Bibles in America’s public schools. It is lawful for young people to give “The Truth for Youth” Bible to other students in their school, on school grounds.
Pay special attention to the powerful comics in this Bible. They tell the youth the absolute truth about the moral issues confronting them today.
Recently, I joined my dad, Cecil Todd, founder of the Revival Fires Ministry, for a missions project in Moscow, Russia. We were asked by the Ministry of Education, who oversees the entire school system in Russia, to assist in providing Bibles as textbooks in their public schools. Vladimir Saprykin, vice-president of the Ministry of Education, gave the approval. His enthusiastic endorsement prompted him to ask, “What kind of a Bible program do you have for the public schools in America?” I responded, “Russia put God in school, but America kicked God out!”
All the way home I pondered: America is a country that was founded on Biblical standards but today many are trying to stop us from giving Bibles to the students in America’s public schools.
Thank God, thousands of people across America are concerned and outraged that Bible reading and prayer in our public schools is prohibited. And yet, Bibles are being distributed freely in public schools of Russia and even required reading in some of their classes! Now, our public schools have become a breeding ground for sin and lawlessness. Young people are being given condoms, but Bibles are forbidden! We have had to create drug free zones today as a result of creating Bible free zones in the sixties.
I am determined, if students can distribute Bibles in the public schools of Russia, our young people should be able to distribute Bibles in the public schools of America too!
I believe our public schools are the biggest mission field in America. Certainly, much more is needed than just handing out Bibles, but this is a good place to start. Over one million students carry guns to school every day. Let’s replace those bullets with Bibles and return God to our public schools!

There's no law against having a Bible in public school. I'd imagine one already can be found in most school libraries. Nor is there any law against studying the Bible in class, as long as it's in a comparative religion or history class and doesn't try to claim the Bible is the word of God. On the other hand, people can't use their schoolmates as a captive audience for their proselytizing.

Or a literature class, John.
Just pointin' that out, as I'm dong the homework for that very class right now.

: ... to legally smuggle Bibles into America's public schools! Whats legal smuggling?

"to legally smuggle"
Something about this doesn't make any goddamn sense.
"to legally smuggle"
See! When I point the contradicto-meter at this part, it fucking spikes!
"Consider this: There has never been one law passed to prohibit the distribution of Bibles in America’s public schools"
Ok.. who gives a shit? As long as the teachers don't do it and the school doesn't fund it, and it doesn't distract from class time.
"America is a country that was founded on Biblical standards"
No, it's not. For instance, in America, you can eat shellfish, wear clothes of multiple fabrics, disobey your parents, and blaspheme God without getting into any trouble.
Because, you know, religious freedom and secular governments are actually a pretty good idea.
"Over one million students carry guns to school every day."
That's only going to go up when they realize how many fundies are going to their schools.
Also, this reminds me of the FOSS movement. If only I was a fundie, I would hand out Linux LiveCDs at school like a douche. "It's legal to re-distribute, re-compile, modify, and even sell!" Oh well.

Fucking legal smuggling. You just want to be dramatic. Unnecessarily dramatic, which is the worst kind of dramatic.
Like, "I'm bringing these Bibles into school!"
"There's nothing you can do to stop me!"
"No, not really. You have that right in America."
"Well I'm bringing them in anyway!"
"What a moron"

Doesn't this sort of ignore the fact that the more fundamentally religious a country is, the more predisposed it usually is to violence?

Young people are being given condoms, but Bibles are forbidden!
There's a reason for that. Have you ever actually tried to put a bible on your penis and then have sex? I have. It doesn't work, and my special lady friend was most dissatisfied.

Ah, persecution complex.

I highly recommend the hilarious comic on the evils of pornography. Not only does it tell you where to find the juicy bits in the bible, but porn addicts are black and good christian boys are blond and blue-eyed.
Racism for jeebus!

Where the fuck did you get "over one million students carry guns into schools"?
Where did you get any of this shit?
10/17/2008 10:24:14 PM
a mind far far away
"to legally smuggle Bibles into America's public schools" Ummm...wha? Legally smuggle? What kind of crap is that? "our young people should be able to distribute Bibles in the public schools of America too" Ummm...they can. There is no law against that. But is that what he means by "legally"? This whole post smacks of ignorance.

"even required reading in some of their classes!"
We have that here in the UK, it's called religious education aka R.E, don't most schools have that in the states?
10/17/2008 10:43:02 PM
DW: Nope. In religious private schools, of course, it is common; but in public schools, it's extremely rare to have any course that deals with religion, other than a social studies class that might mention that the chief religion of such-and-such a region is Buddhism, or Hinduism, or Islam. That's about it, until you reach the college level.

David DG Interesting. My son learned about Judaism, Islam, Buddhism and Shinto at his junior school, and has covered Christianity and Sikhism so far at his senior school (he's coming up to 14) in RE. It's rather sad you don't have such classes in your schools - they do wonders for cultural tolerance (and in my son's case have convinced him that all religion is bunk!)
10/17/2008 10:57:21 PM
Diarrhea of words, constipation of thought.
10/17/2008 10:59:07 PM
so don't whine when they're shredded and burned
10/17/2008 11:04:27 PM
These are kevlar bibles? Bullets will bounce off them?
Jouls: These classes are legal in the US, but fundies violently oppos them, for the reason you mentioned: the students learn religion is bunk.
10/17/2008 11:18:44 PM
you can't legally smuggle something. smuggling is, by its very nature, illegal.
10/17/2008 11:19:14 PM
Oh no! Young people are being given condoms! That's just horrible. Since that might decrease the rate of abortions, we might not have anything to complain about. We must stop the prevention of accidental pregnancies!

"Over one million students carry guns to school every day."
10/18/2008 12:35:08 AM
How about we replace those guns and bibles with basic common sense and forward thinking?
10/18/2008 1:01:21 AM
People like me were content to smuggle booze and weed into school. Fuck the crazy shit.
10/18/2008 1:28:09 AM
I smell serious bullshit:
"Vladimir Saprykin" is not found as a member of the Ministry of Education in the Russian Federation.
In fact, there's no chair called the "vice-president of the Ministry of Education". There are DEPUTIES, but no vice-president.
Lying for Jesus is still lying.
