[poster], I do not believe that taking medications and seeking medical advice for your depression works. Why not seek advice from the Super Moderators here. They can help you a LOT!
And [poster], do you read and study the Word of God everyday? If not, you should. The Word of God is the best, if not, the only cure for depression. Also, do pray.
I was once like you. I also suffered from severe bouts of depression. And the only cure for my suffering was reading & studying the Word of God. Now it's gone - totally gone. And I praise God for that.
I am praying for you.

Or taking medications and seeing medical advice would work wonders than a book written by men, who say it's written by a god! A vampire god no doubt! Why? Well, in the book of Vampires: The Occult Truth by Konstantinos, it says "The vampire gods were ruthless, demonic beings that most people appeased out of fear alone." I laughed since it fits your God oh-so-well!
I do not believe that taking medications and seeking medical advice for your depression works.
Let's see - do we trust double blind experimental data, or this guy's bald assertion of faith? Decisions, decisions...
Well, of course "reading & studying the Word of God" cured your depression!
If you shift your brain into neutral or park, you can't be depressed!
The claim that the Bible is the word of god is utterly unsubstantiated.
I challenge you to prove it. And no. The Bible does not, and cannot prove the Bible.
If Bible reading alone cures depression, why do so many of the posters on Rapture Ready sound borderline suicidal all the time and talk about how unhappy they are in the world?
It doesn't stop being depression just because you call it something else.
Are you sick? Arthritis bothering you? Do you have the flu, cancer, or syphillys? The "WORD OF GOD" can help! Read three verses a day, for a week, and you WILL BE CURED! It's the newest breakthrough in medical science! It's so amazing, I wouldn't have believed had I not seen it work myself. Gayism, blackism, muslimism, can all be cured in no time at all, and with half the effort.
Infomercials are bad enough, but this takes the cake.
I've never broken a bone in my body but you won't hear me saying those who have need no pain meds.
It's called compassion, Paoshing. Christians theoretically have it. You don't. Explain, please.
My dad is anxious sometimes and mildly to moderately depressed. He is a devout Catholic but still understands that he needs his Paxil so he can enjoy his life and grandkids.
I'm sure he prays also, that's just the way he is, but he is rational enough to know that he needs help as well.
Maybe you do as well.
Praying that your life here will end soon, and you won't have to worry about living on planet earth, doesn't sound like you're the very HAPPIEST person on the planet, you know? But maybe after the UFOs / angels arrive and teleport you away from your awful personal life, you might perk up.
you obviously have never experienced clinical depression, and are just one of those idiots who says "everyone feels sad sometimes!" you make me want to twist off your head and shit down your neck, you ignorant douchebag.
"I was once like you. I also suffered from severe bouts of depression. And the only cure for my suffering was reading & studying the Word of God."
Getting obcessed and addicted to Jesus isn't cure for depression.
"I am praying for you."
Suit yourself. Play solitaire, twiddle your thumbs, suck a marble, waste your time in any manner you wish.
Assuming God does exist..
God helps those who help themselves. Medicines like anti-depressants were discovered for a reason: to make people feel better. God WANTS you to take them, or else he wouldn't have had them discovered.
Maybe that'll work? Is it not God-y enough? :\
I have Obessive Compulsive Disorder, and used to pray about it. The prayer just gave me somthing else to Obsess about, and the medication I'm taking now works.
And, I'm assuming that if you alresdy believe in the Bible as truth, it would comfort you. I place my "faith" in modern medicine, and that seems to work well. Just look at the post on the previous page, about an Islamic country that uses "prayer and the Qu'ran" to help people, and I think you will see how much more effective my cure was than yours.
*Note: Of course, I'm not endorsing medication for everyone all the time. Only if it's medically recommended by your doctor. I don't want to be as irresponsible about medications as some fundamentalists think non-believers are!
"I do not believe that taking medications and seeking medical advice for your depression works"
Now to be fair, there is a lot of evidence that anti-depressants do have issues. They are over-prescribed, and when used in isolation can generate dependency and fail to address the underlying problem. The best bet is a combination of anti-depressants to deal with the immediate issues and therapy to tackle the underlying long-term problems. Though for mild depression it can sometimes be better to focus on therapy over drugs.
... but somehow I doubt that was what he was getting at.
"I also suffered from severe bouts of depression. And the only cure for my suffering was reading & studying the Word of God. Now it's gone - totally gone. And I praise God for that."
Sure it is. Now you just sit around waiting to die and be taken to an imaginary place of eternal bliss.
a year ago i was severly depressed, and i became addicted to painkillers because when i was high i wasn't depressed, i had to have an intervention, now i'm clean, but still, at least the painkillers worked
probably worked better than a "god" saying he'll kill everyone who doesn't know him or like him
Confused?
