Are you by any chance referring to the training camps around the Afghanistan-Pakistan border? Who funded those, again?
15 out of 19 came from Saudi-Arabia and they lived in Afghanistan.
There were no terrorists from Iraq, you dumb bastard.
You forgot to add the multiple caches of hidden weapons of mass destruction the American army found once they invaded Iraq.
Oh, wait...
You're in an alternate universe, aren't you, or at least your brain is.
hello, i'm a lefty leftist, and on behalf of the terror, i sincerely apologize. it knows it was a bad terror and will never, ever do it again.
Iraq didn't harbor al-Qaeda under Hussein. Al-Qaeda did have a training camp in northern Iraq hosted by our allies the Kurds, and shielded from Hussein by our no-fly zone.
Al-Qaeda in Iraq formed AFTER we invaded, once American troops became convenient targets.
Hussein tortured and murdered his people under the indulgent eye of the Reagan and Bush I administrations, which provided him with weapons, including poison gas. All that while, you were protesting that we couldn't be the world's policeman.
This isn't Israel. If you want to attack anyone who supports the Palestinians, you'd better start bombing our buddies in Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.
But why am I wasting my time explaining the obvious? Fundie idiots will continue ignoring reality and promoting dictatorial theocracy until the Messiah fails to come forever.
Wrong!! Another case of lying at Rapture Ready to protect their FUNDIE elected Saudi Arabian GOP asslick in the White House. BIN LADEN is SAUDI ARABIAN!!! THe hijackers on 9/11 were Saudis! You know the people who are robbing America blind at the gaspump thanks their toadie Bush wiping out the Iraqui oil fields under FALSE (NO WMDs found) pretenses. NOT A SINGLE IRAQI HAS EVER BEEN PROVEN TO BE INVOLVED IN 9/11! Funny, according to Amnesty International, Saddam actually tortured and murdered more of his own people while he was OUR ALLY in the 80's when Reagan was in the White House than during the Clinton and both Bush administrations combined. Funny how it didn't matter to you hypocritical right-wing assholes when he was on our side. What a freaking joke as Christians these RRers are, claiming to follow God but lying their asses off for the GOP. I guess we know who really ranks first at Rapture Republicans Ready, and it ain't the truth or God, unless they spell their god, G-O-P!
I'll never say it was wrong to remove Saddam, but there are other ways to do it than the slaughter of thousands, both American and Iraqi. I mean, it wouldn't be the first time America backed an assassination.
The 9/11 attackers were Saudis who infiltrated the US from Pakistan.
Saddam Hussein ran a secular regime and was extremely wary of Al Quaeda. There was virtually no Al Quaeda presence in Iraq until our unprovoked invasion provided an ideal training ground, and attracted every Kalashnikov-toting Muslim fanatic in the Middle East.
Yes, Saddam tortured and killed a great many people during his reign. I have no idea where you get your 100,000 per year figure (well, I do, but I'm too polite to mention it). He was an unpleasant fellow, we all agree. But no one asked us to overthrow him. And we were among his biggest supporters when it suited us.
In brief, Iraq was in no way implicated in 9/11, and our presence there is contrary to international law and any semblance of morality.
"....but Iraq provided safe haven for al Qaeda....provided them three training camps.....provided them financial support.... "
This lie was exposed about 3 years ago, where have you been?
"Saddam tortured and murdered an average of 100,000 civilians a year"
Bushs war has killed about 1.4 million Iraqis, divide by 5 years of war, that's 280,000 dead per year . . .
My God, it is so elementary......why am I wasting my time explaining the obvious.... Rightists will ignore the truth and continue apologizing for terror until the Messiah comes... And he's 2000 years late already . . .
Only Saddam Hussein didn't support al Qaeda, Zarqaqwi only setup shop in Iraq after the US disposed of Hussein, yes Saddam did torture his civilians but then again were was America when Pol Pot did that in Cambodia, and finally there are no Arabs in Israel, that's the whole point of the country, and Israel spends even more money a year then that at attacking pretty much all of their neighbors.
They didn't. Nobody has ever claimed they did. They attacked from WITHIN America....
....but [INSERT COUNTRY HERE] provided safe haven for al Qaeda....provided them three training camps.....provided them financial support....
....[INSERT SIGNIFICANT TERRORIST NAME HERE] (now in hell) was the head of a wing of al Qaeda in [INSERT COUNTRY HERE] formed in 2001...

.....[INSERT DICTATOR NAME HERE] paid $25,000 to the [INSERT VIOLENT POLITICAL ORGANISATION HERE] in [INSERT COUNTRY HERE] who slaughtered [INSERT ETHNIC/RELIGIOUS GROUP HERE]....
aaaaand you've got just about two-thirds of the world's countries shortlisted to invade
Geographically, sociologically, historically and logically challenged. Well done - homeschooling really, really works.....
There was no safe haven, haven't even heard of the training camp justification, and there was no financial support. What does Saddam's readiness to use the death penalty have to do with 9/11? And what does his support of Arabs have to do with anything either?
If this is the "truth" that we are ignoring, I question your sanity
Iraq. The baathist secular gem of the middle east. To a democratic example there; to show the middle east how prosperous a democratic nation can be. Oh, and oil.
Britain faught for democracy, then the Americans did. If Iraq was ready for democracy, they would have had their own revolution. They're not.
You can't just invade a fucked up country and hand everyone a ballot paper. I'm not a politician, but even I was bright enough to work that one out back in 2003.
Bush and Blair are cunts. And liars.
Apologizing for terror?
wtf no.
While it is true that Saddam was a corrupt dictator who never should have been in power (gee, I wonder which country's government put him in power in the first place?), he was never connected to Al Qaeda. In fact, Bin Laden routinely referred to Hussein as an infidel, threatening to launch terrorist attacks on Iraq. The men who carried out the attacks on the US were mostly from Saudi Arabia and Syria, not Iraq. And here's a fun fact: The American government gave millions to Iraq during the gulf war, AND funded Bin Laden back in the 80s, providing him with all of his military training. These aren't conspiracy theories -- this is documented and well-known fact, available to anyone who bothers to check it out.
So tell me, Scapegoat: Should George Bush SR be held responsible for the events of 9/11, and the horrific acts inflicted upon Iraq by Saddam's dictatorship?
Although no fan of George Galloway (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Galloway ) I like his quote when being accused of having corupt links to Saddam Hussein and his Government
"I have met Saddam Hussein exactly the same number of times as Donald Rumsfeld met him. The difference is Donald Rumsfeld met him to sell him guns and to give him maps the better to target those guns. I met him to try and bring about an end to sanctions, suffering and war"
Saddam Hussein, for all his faults, never allowed Al Qaeda or any other Islamic fanatics to operate in his country. Dictators don't like competition for power, and tend to deal with it quickly and brutally. Al Qaeda moved in after the US conveniently removed Hussein. Sure, SH was a piece of crap and we're better off with him dead. But Al Qaeda's presence in Iraq is George Bush's doing, not SH's.
Which country was it that supported Saddam with his war against Iran? Which country supplied him with loads of weapons whithout even mentioning the acts of that violent dictator? Which country has been terrorising the world for it's own personal gain since WOII? Which country was more or less asking for a terrorist attack?
Read "Deterring democracy" by Noam Chomsky.
I have no problem with America or Americans in general and I do not want to see anyone suffer or die but the American foreign policy is crap so I can understand the hatred against America in other parts of the world.
You might call this apologizing for terror, I call it explaining. You can only stop terror if you understand what motivates it. Throwing bombs, killing people and overthrowing governments is what caused the terror so that will not help stop it.
Iraq provided safe haven for al Qaeda....provided them three training camps.....provided them financial support....
Bullshit propaganda to justify the war in iraq.
Abu Musab al-Zarqawi (now in hell) was the head of a wing of al Qaeda in Iraq formed in 2001...
Bullshit! Zarqawi didn't form al-Qeada-in-Iraq until late 2003 at the absolute earliest and that organization had only a tenuous connection to Bin Laden.
Saddam tortured and murdered an average of 100,000 civilians a year....
Really now? why then pray tell, do almost all estimates put the total number of Iraqui deaths at Saddam's orders at 300,000 for the entire time he ruled? And does the fact that he had scores of his own countrymen murdered in anyway justify the murder of twice that many (If not far, far more)
Except that Saddam hated Al-Qaeda and didn't want them anywhere near his country. Shiites and Sunnis don't tend to get along so well.
As for the rest of this, citations, please.
"....but Iraq provided safe haven for al Qaeda....provided them three training camps.....provided them financial support.... "
No. This did not take place - not until AFTER 2003. Now, however, Iraq may very well be the training ground that produces a new generation of global jihadists prepared to participate in large scale international terror attacks. All thanks to Operation Iraqi Freedom. In fact, I think one can safely say that the "global war on terrorism" will have much larger and more dire consequences than actual international terrorism will.
"Saddam paid $25,000 to the family of Arabs in Israel who slaughtered Jews"
We all know Saddam was an Anti-Semetic and Anti-Israel moron, but paying Arabs in Israel to kill Jews doesn't give him connections to Al-Qaeda. Even a "dumb liberal" like me can see that.
Confused?
