Not only do some people just need the welfare as a temporary fix to keep themselves financially secure till they recover from injuries and such, the Reality is that some people NEED the welfare money for the rest of their lives! Take all the people who are traumatized/scarred-for-life for example, and the people that are permanently handicapped to too high extreme levels for typical work, etc...
What we can do is have government workers ask those on Welfare to volunteer for some charity work every now & then that will hopefully make them feel better & useful, when their problems are not at overwhelming levels. As extreme mental-problems (often trauma related memories) come & return thus making it impossible to keep a typical 9 to 5, 5 days a week job.
You try picturing yourself trying to maintain a typical job despite having to live with a extreme embarrassing memory such as: loosing your innocence to a priest as a child, or getting special-ed during your school years (something that can be very humiliating to live with, especially since others could find out about it thus permanently damage your self-esteem). Many commit suicide to escape having to live with problems like this and many of you would too. But last time I checked, Suicide is illegal in almost all countries (if not all)!
What should they do without the welfare system? Mug people for money? Become prostitutes/male-prostitutes? <-Even THAT is illegal in some countries now, like Norway.
I find it incredibly disturbing that people must be told this, seeing as more & more suggest disbanding the welfare system.
Sometimes life is NOT what you make it, so Welfare is Vital! Enough!
