I'm afraid even the term Christian has been redefined. Was it about a year ago a Phew (Pueh,???? something close) poll of "Christians" found that only about 11% believed the bible is to be taken literally from cover to cover. So, only 11 in a 100 of us are what the world calls fundamentalist in our beliefs.
Most of us, I suspect, believe that if one does or has ever believed Jesus is the Son of God, died for our sins, was resurrected for our eternal life and if we have invited Him into our life then we are going on the first wave.
If not, there are going to be a lot of wide eyed, scared and soon to be suffering people left groping around for answers. I am so afraid that if they have heard the message and don't go in our wave the delusion will apply to them and they won't be joining us.
This just sends chills down my spine every time I contemplate it and what it truly translates to in terms of people I know and consider some type of friend or relative.

So why do you suppose that is? Is it the whole "talking snake with feet" thing, or one of the 11,000 or so known contradictions that makes milk come out their noses when they read and drink at the same time?
Reality. You should try it.
Hey, Caver, wanna hear a little secret? No one genuinely and steadfastly believes that the Bible is to be taken literally from cover to cover. Even when people say they do, you can always find at least one verse that will make them backpedal.
"If not, there are going to be a lot of wide eyed, scared and soon to be suffering people left groping around for answers. "
Considering your bible says 144,000 men, I'd bet you're right. Odds are good that you'll be one of the billions left behind, too. Sorry about your luck.
But when talking about how atheists, Pagans, and Muslims shouldn't be treated as equals, you'll almost certainly state that most Americans are Christian. You will use the number of self-identified Christians rather than the number that claims to believe the Bible is to be "taken literally cover to cover." That will be a very interesting rhetorical choice, to say the least.
@ Dark_Lord_Prime: Think I'd have better luck playing the lottery! At least I win five or fifty dollars occasionally!

That's eleven too many to have in the 21st century.

There's that word "soon" again...

They wont be joining you because the delusion applies to you, not them.

And I am sure, the world can be glad about the fact that the prcentage isn´t higher ;)
These guys are so paranoid and homophobic, they can't even handle the loose association of their butts being anywhere near a "pole".
"We sit in the pews, there's a poll called Pew, poll sounds like pole, pole is slang for... Omigosh, it's attempted sodomy by proxy! Quick, pronounce it differently! Ah, saved!"

I believe in Jesus!
Wait, never mind, just changed my mind again. But I'm still set in case of Rapture.
Okay, it's either because more of you believe it that you're right, or less of you believe, so it's right. You can't have both!
He considers people relatives? So it's not by genetic relations that we have relatives, but by personal choice? I think he's really lost on the whole DNA and genetics thing. But he probably also believes in geocentrism, creationism, flat earth, god-men dying for our sins, angels and demons, miracles, etc. His science fails Big Time.
"I'm afraid even the term Christian has been redefined" By who? You're fundyism? So has the meaning of many other words that we use that you seem to think means something else, like science, evolution, genetics, religion, kindness, goodness, mercy, love for enemies, etc.
Go, go go! Please go NOW!
Except you won't because the Rapture is a religious scam, and Rapturites are fools who need a pastor to do their thinking for them and to give their money to.
Rapture Ready isn't the 11% of CHristians who completely believe in the Bible.
Where does it state that we should wait for the Rapture while wasting our lives? Uh Uh, don't give me that "watch the signs" BS. Watching the signs /= hating everything and wishing to get lifted off to the sky.

Do you mean Pew Poll? If I know that, how come you don't? Who's (supposedly) the American of us two?
Yup, most Christians are rational beings, who understand that the Bible is more of a guide than an instruction manual. Anyone who knows something about the history of the Bible knows that it was carried by word-of-mouth for a couple of hundred years before it was written down. That does not bode well for "literally from cover to cover".
First wave of what? Isn't Jesus supposed to come down to wage some kind of war against humanity? Wouldn't he want you devoted fans on the frontline in his army? You think he's going to send you to heaven to wait it out while he fights?
You consider people relatives? Either you have a genetic or legal bond to someone, or you don't.
Confused?
