/There is no possibility of convincing people like Ellen that they have confused affections and need to change./
"Confused affections?" Because she's a lesbian? Patronizing creeps.
/IMO. They don't want to change./
"Don't fix what's not broken." There's nothing wrong with homosexuality. There is no need for Ellen to change who she is.
/She has big money, fame, TV show, etc. so she isn't about to see any need in her own life. She doesn't need God in her mind, so she doesn't care except that she gets what she wants./
She wanted to get married. So do millions of other heterosexuals out there. Why is it so bad for her to get what other people already have, if what she wants doesn't hurt anybody?
/This is why it's so hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God./
Tell that to your televangelist preachers.
/She has to make her decision in a time of need, and I honestly don't see it happening as far as her choices go. If she did, I would stand corrected./
Well, hopefully she won't. Hopefully she and her beautiful wife, Portia, will stay married (going against the usual story of Hollywood marriages) and continue to be happy and in love.
/Since when does someone have "the right" to break one of God's laws?/
"Thou shalt not kill...Thou shalt not bear false witness." Yet hundreds of Christians break one of or both of these laws. Thousands of Christians break God's laws on eating shellfish and working on the Sabbath. What makes homosexuality so especially heinous that it surpasses the abovementioned restrictions?
/Ellen is seriously messing with fire, here./
And you are seriously poking your noses into matters that don't concern you. Butt out.
/There were enough Christians to vote against this before, (then the California Supreme Court sickeningly voted against our vote)./
Yes, so sickening that the Supreme Court actually recognized that homosexuals are human beings and American citizens who deserve equal rights. *sarcasm*
/I believe there are still enough Christians in California to vote this down again, with a YES ON 8 vote
praying Lord, that prop 8 goes "yes"/
I'm Christian. I support gay rights and gay marriage, and your bigotry disgusts me. The fact that you consider yourselves entitled to destroy your fellow Americans' happiness and rights with a vote horrifies me. If you and your fellow fundies had had your way fifty years ago, blacks would still be lynched with impunity and women would still be trapped in the kitchen. For the love of God, I hope that the people of California have enough sense to NOT vote against gay marriage and I hope that my state will have enough sense to follow in the footsteps of Connecticut and Massachusetts.
