Wasn't that the Church professing the Earth flat? Even killed one or two adversaries who said the Earth is round.

If we are indoctrinated and inundated with something, it would be the thing we have been hearing about for nigh on two tousand years, wouldn't it? One would think that back then, when the Church got most of the tax money, that they would have found some of all that proof swimming around. 2000 years of Creation and no evidence, not even 200 years and already tons of evidence for evolution. Fancy that...
