Are all the deaf people men? If so, of course not, she may tempt them into running up and raping her and then of course it wouldn't be the men's fault, because women should be barefoot, pregnant in the kitchen :P
What the hell is a "weekly bible study devo thing?" Remember Devo from the 1980's with Whip It, Whip It Good?
Kinky Devo Bible study at the Paynes - that made my whole week.
a female interpert
that sounds kinky
I found it profoundly disturbing that the general consensus in that thread was that a woman interpreting for the deaf could cause a person to stumble, therefore they should either find a male to do the signing or segregate the deaf members in another room where hearing members would not have to be distracted by the female interpreter. How sad. Just goes to show you that discrimination in many churches runs deep.
Why are you doing bible studies on Devo? They weren't that good of a band. Anyway, this is a pickle. On the one hand, if I thought religious services were good, then I'd say it was stupid to say that you couldn't have a female interpreter for the deaf. On the other hand, the deaf don't need to hear that load of crap anyway.
Oh, for God's sake, is there ANYTHING that women can do aside from staying barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen? Does every single thing that a woman does have to be so painstakingly analyzed and debated over?
Oh well, if you're so special for having a penis, why don't you learn sign language and become an interpreter? Are you too much of a special snowflake to be a good Christian and actually help people? Oh, who am I kidding. You just want to sit in judgment of everyone else.
I wonder what he's more concerned about, the fact that she's a woman (and therefore unworthy?) or that she's disabled?
oh and why exactly is it the Valley Church of CHRIST!!!!!!1eleventy!!!
I think that if you actually have to ask that question, you're an idiot and the church you belong to are idiots.
So my advice is not to provide any interpreter at all. Then at least the deaf will be safe from the stupid.
I would like to go to that 'bible study' if the females were 'reading' each others 'lips'
nudge, nudge, wink, wink, know what i mean?
In your terms, is she preaching or Interpreting someone else's preaching?
in my terms, no, it's not okay to have either a man or woman up there spreading bullshit.
Since you don't seem to know what an interpreter can be, your opinion, though useless, is harmless. If you do, have you consider that, following your stupid logic, you're depriving people to go to Heaven because they can't "hear" the word of God?. Yes, it's nice to see they can't make head or tail of their own bullshit.
Confused?
