Quote# 50924

Jesus said that a house divided against itself cannot stand. America was founded as a Christian nation. The motto of the American Revolution was "NO KING BUT KING JESUS." The Constitution was signed, "in the year of our Lord (Jesus Christ) seventeen hundred and eighty-seven." All Americans need to turn back to God so that we can learn to love our neighbors as we love ourselves and to do to others what we would want them to do to us.
How to get to Heaven:
1. You will spend all of eternity either in heaven or in hell. Jesus Christ said,“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”(Matthew 7:13)
2. Unforgiven sin is what damns a person to hell forever. The Apostle Paul said,“All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law.”(Romans 2:12)
3. We are all sinners who need to be forgiven. The Apostle John said,“If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.”(1 John 1:8)
4. We can never be good enough to earn forgiveness. The Apostle James said,“Whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.”(James 2:10)
5. Salvation is a free gift by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ. The Apostle Paul told Christians,“It is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.”(Ephesians 2:10)
6. Jesus Christ paid the price for the sins of all who would believe in Him. The Bible says,“For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures…”(1 Corinthians 15:3)
7. I encourage you to seek God’s forgiveness and grace today. The Apostle John said,“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”(1 John 1:9)

Jesus Christ said,“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”(Matthew 7:13)

I'm not really seeing where this means there's even a heaven or a hell, much less that anyone will be going there.

Also, most of these quotes come from Paul which make them automatically suspect. FYI.

The motto of the American Revolution was "NO KING BUT KING JESUS."

Obviously you fail at history ;)

it might have been a slogan for groups within the american revolution but was no official motto for it.

Yeah, sure, GOD will help you love your neighbour. When it comes to loving deities, God is right at the top of the list.

The Constitution was signed, "in the year of our Lord (Jesus Christ) seventeen hundred and eighty-seven."

The Declaration of Independence was dated in July, so I guess we were founded as one nation under Julius Caesar. Hail Caesar!

Thanks, but I don't want any part of your "heaven." It's too much like a fascist police state.

Also, your knowledge of American history sucks.

4. We can never be good enough to earn forgiveness. The Apostle James said,“Whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.”(James 2:10)

Yes yes, we've heard this all before; "If you tell a lie, you are a liar", "If you steal you are a thief".

This is bad logic. By using the same logic, doing one act of good makes you a good person.

That passage is the most amoral pile of horse shit I have ever read.

This is standard-issue religious tract rhetoric. I'm giving it a one.

I still fail to see the logic between "By grace and not by works". Seems to me that's pretty damn unfair.

Jesus said no such thing. There was never such a slogan, or anything like it. We were founded as a secular nation. Indicating a date as Anno Domini (AD) or "Year of the Lord" was -- and still is -- a centuries-old convention in most nations. You ain't going to heaven, or any place else, when you die. You will be dead. D-E-D, dead!

JESUS said that? Abe, you blatant plagiarizer, you!

"America was founded as a Christian nation."

I believe the Founding Fathers would be astonished to learn this.

"The motto of the American Revolution was "NO KING BUT KING JESUS."

Bullshit. The most common motto for the colonies during the revolution was "Liberty or Death" with "Don't Tread on Me" and simply "Hope" being quite popular also. Jebus, as far as I can tell, was never referenced in any motto in use during the revolution.

Stop making shit up or provide sources for your outlandish claims.

"The Constitution was signed, "in the year of our Lord (Jesus Christ) seventeen hundred and eighty-seven.""

This is what's known as a linguistic convention.

"All Americans need to turn back to God so that we can learn to love our neighbors as we love ourselves and to do to others what we would want them to do to us."

Why would we need a god for that?

Proof positive that the God of the Bible does NOT want all his "precious children" to get into Heaven.

The Apostle Paul said,“All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law.”(Romans 2:12)

Paul was talking about Jews vs Gentiles who are unaware of the Jewish laws. He means Jews, who are bound by the law, will be judged by the law. Non-Jews, who are ignorant of the law, will be judged by their actions and whether or not they obey the spirit of the law which is nonetheless written in their hearts, despite their being unaware of it. Continue reading Romans 2:14-15.

"Jesus said that a house divided against itself cannot stand"

That's right. And Jesus also gave the Gettysburg address and Jesus issued the Emanicipation Proclomation. Too bad that Jesus was betrayed by John Wilkes Booth and crucified by Confederate Soldiers.

America was founded as a Christian nation. The motto of the American Revolution was "NO KING BUT KING JESUS."

No it wasn't, but lying for jesus makes you a liar

The Constitution was signed, "in the year of our Lord (Jesus Christ) seventeen hundred and eighty-seven

As was damn near every other document of it's time, both religious and secular. You can't honestly claim that that, the only mention of "lord" in the constitution, would establish america as a christian nation.

Are you claiming the founding fathers of the US meant to establish a christian nation but didn't bother to spell that out in clear and concise language in it's founding document? Are you really that ignorant? Is that level of ignorance even possible?
