Have atheist ever boycotted a film because it was immoral?
this is why christians are less moral than us. I have never watched any film or let my children see tv that did not enforce and celibrate the love of Jesus. Atheist will expose their children to violence, gay porn (including kissing and relationships of course) and not cry out as our society falls to Satan. do not be fooled, soddom and gommorag will happen again and they ill be the ones to blame. we are already in the time of the great tribulation/

What? Are you saying you're atheist?
"Atheist will expose their children to violence, gay porn (including kissing and relationships of course"
How is having a relationship equivalent to porn?
Jayden's Mommy, you bitch, shut up already. Just...shut up.
My father was not religious but he would not let me watch anything with sex in it as a kid. As a kid I was taught the diffrence between reality and fiction and I knew I couldn't fight like Xena.
[including kissing and relationships of course]
That alone would outlaw many movies that you probably let your kids watch like The Little Mermaid.
"this is why christians are less moral than us. "
*after recovering from the laughing fit*
Freudian slip, much?
"soddom and gommorag ??" Really? *lol*
And you call yourself a good Christian? :P
"this is why christians are less moral than us."
Unintentional Honesty Award?
As for the rest of the post, please shut your bigoted piehole, go back to the kitchen, and make me a sammich.
(Not that I condone such sexism--it's unjust and outmoded, but a fundie whacko like Jayden's Mom probably subscribes to that modus...)
Edit: Apparently it's a troll, but still a pile of dung nonetheless...
Actually when an atheist dislikes a film or television show, he/she usually just doesn't watch it.
Because we generally accept that other people have different morals than we do, and maybe they want to watch it, but we don't.
"Would atheist ever boycotted a film because it was immoral?"
Me personally? No.
"I have never watched any film or let my children see tv that did not enforce and celibrate the love of Jesus."
Don't watch much do ya?
"Atheist will expose their children to violence, gay porn (including kissing and relationships of course) and not cry out as our society falls to Satan."
How someone else raises their children is of no concern of mine. It shouldn't be any concern of yours either but you're one of them fundy fuckers who can't mind their own business.
"do not be fooled, soddom and gommorag will happen again and they ill be the ones to blame. we are already in the time of the great tribulation/"
Yeah, sure we are.
Oh no! Not the...dreaded....RELATIONSHIPS!?
I didn't know they were allowed to show that! And in the media of all places!
*faints from sheer terror*
No, athies boycott films because the films are stupid, anti-intellectual, promote ignorance, push a religious agenda/or just plain suck. The only movie I can think of that "enforces and celebrates the love of Jesus" is "Passion of the Christ", and while I applaud the efforts made at historical accuracy (Aramaic is a beautiful language, folks!), I certainly would NOT take a child to see that movie. Hell, my (hypothetical) child could be 60, and I'd still want to shield her from that disgusting display of torture!porn.
Somehow, two women kissing is *worse* than watching a man beaten nearly to death? I don't get it.
why is kissing and gay relationships porn? do you have a clue what porn even is, you idiot?
here's a clue lady, movies can't be immoral, MOVIES AREN'T REAL!
Third grade grammer and english class, bitch. Return to it and stay there till you pass.
Take your meds.
Then come back when your batshit ramblings are at least a coherent word salad.
Yes, troll indeed. Jayden's mom doesn't think any more clearly than this, but can spell better than that. The question does not link to the real 'Jayden's Mom' yahoo page.
Finally, 'best answer', chosen by the asker said "Well I didn't see 'the passion of the Christ'".
I have boycotted that whole gay cowboy movie, but that's mainly because I didn't want to see two guys kissing, rather than any messages contained within. I never miss a movie because of the message. No matter how terrible or sadistic a movie is, they either have a powerful, interesting, thought provoking message behind them that I should hear for the sake of being informed....or they had no message.
Usually I boycott films if I believe they might be boring or stupid. How can a film be immoral anyway? A story can be about anything. The Bible has a lot of violence and massmurder, and some incest and an erotic poem. Is it immoral? Of course not. But it is stupid to believe it's an accurate account of reality.
I have never watched any film or let my children see tv that did not enforce and celibrate the love of Jesus.
Your love of Jesus has to be enforced?
Usually I see would see love as a gift that is freely given (and voluntarily accepted). Enforcing love on someone sounds a lot like abuse to me.
Poe or not, I certainly wouldn't pay a penny to see lying, deceitful rubbish like 'Expelled' so I guess atheists can boycott films on moral grounds, yes.
Wow, who knew my computer screen looked good with Mt. Dew on it?
"this is why christians are less moral than us" Freudian slips speak volumes. And I agree.
"gay porn (including kissing and relationships of course)" I didn't know porn included kissing. When did this happen? I refuse to have kissing with my porn.
"and not cry out as our society falls to Satan" Um...we don't believe in a god, so why would be believe in a satan? We don't 'cry out' against things we don't even believe exists.
"gommorag" I know she spelt Sodom wrong too, but this was way funnier. At least she phonetically got Sodom right. But 'Gommorag'? What, was it their time of the month?
"and they ill be the ones to blame" Ah, so it's a sickness, atheism and homosexuality. Got it.
If we don't like a movie, we just don't watch it. Maybe we'll write a bad review and tell our friends that we think it sucks, but we won't throw a hissy fit if they then decide to go and see it anyway. Not being prone to histrionic bouts of outrage like the typically religious, we generally don't feel the need to suppress and destroy free expression merely because we don't like what it says. (Deliberately spreading lies, libel and propaganda, that's another matter)
"enforce and celibrate the love of Jesus."
If you have to enforce it, it sure isn't love, you asswipe.
"we are already in the time of the great tribulation"
Well, it doesn't seem THAT bad. Will they stop putting yogurt into those handy-dandy one-a-day containers, if things get much worse? Will they lay waste to my kleenex?
I'm sure that a good number of us 'boycotted' (ie, didn't waste our time going to see, but probably didn't waste time kicking up a fuss over) Passion Of The Christ.
Because, y'know, personally I think that films that are nothing more than two hours of celebrating torture, suffering, blood and death, is kinda immoral. Which is what that film is all about.
I'm not exactly an atheist, but I have to say that it's bloody stupid to boycott a film because it's "immoral". It's bloody stupid to boycott a film for any reason, really.
Free speech is a basic human right. I don't always agree with other people for various reasons, but that's no reason to call for a boycott. If I have a problem with a film, I do tell about that to other people, but leave it up to them whether they still want to see it. Heck, perhaps I tell them to see it anyway so they can see for themselves how bad it is and laugh along! After all, there's few things that are as pathetic as people who only have 5th-generation vague understanding of the Evil Film that someone once saw. You have to understand *what* you criticise.
Hell, I don't agree with 9/11 conspiracy theorists, but I still think Loose Change is a captivating piece of propaganda cinema that everyone who appreciates the genre should see. Go ahead, download it and set up a little drinking game - one shot for corny drama, two shots for so blatant misinterpretation of evidence that even rank amateurs can spot it, three for death-defying leaps of logic. And in the end, you'll see the value of learning to be critical - well, if you can still think straight, what with all the alcohol.
I do not believe in censorship. It is oppressive and stems from a repressive and paternalistic view of life - do as I say; not as I do.
Invariably those who advocate this approach are humbugs, liars, cheats or just plain mad.
"this is why christians are less moral than us."
At last she admits it.
And atheists don't expose it. Some might but others don't. As a kid I wasn't allowed to see that kind of thing. And lesbian porn is the best kind. And relationships? There is something wrong with them loving each other?
I smell a sad attempt to imitate Jayden's Mommy. The spelling and grammar to TOO bad. I'm gonna have to call troll on this (and to said troll: you don't need to pretend to be Jayden's Mommy to make her look like a fundie freak. She can do that all by herself...and, sadly with better spelling, punctuation and grammar.)
So how come my atheist friends with young children complain about how they've seen all kinds of animated and "family" movies, but hardly ever catch a movie made for adults?
No, atheists do not generally boycott movies for "immorality." Instead of expecting all movies to be made for children, they differentiate between adults and children. When kids are present, they go to movies that are age-appropriate for the kids. When no kids are present, they go to movies that they find appropriate for themselves. It's an interesting concept--why don't you try it?
Not necessarily a boycott, but from what I heard about that "two girls one cup" thing, simply watching it is hazardous to one's health. I feel no need to personally investigate.
When the capital of Jesusland is smote out of the blue, you can blame it on California.
I would boycott a film because it was violating human rights, promoting racism, sexism, rape culture, things like that. I would never bring children to a movie that I knew had violence, gay OR STRAIGHT porn. Kissings and relationships on the other hand can be nice, regardless of genders involved.
Isn't the love of Jesus a relationship? What about Christian men? I feel we're moving into Jayden's Mom's definition of "gay porn" here...
Some Christians are indeed less moral than us.
Confused?
