On the plus side it sounds nice, but in all honesty they are not really undergoing "famine".

They are undergoing a fast. A famine is where they are eating poor food for months at a time and drinking unclean water. Famine kills people with ease.

While laudable, to compare their famine to real famine is kind of not getting the point of real suffering as opposed to the masochism they are trying to portray.

Why is this in FSTDT? This isn't bigoted, racist, misogynist, homophobic, ignorant, irrational or any of the other things which fundie quotes usually are. This is NICE. This is actually a rare example of fundies doing a NICE, COMPASSIONATE thing which Christians are supposed to do.
