Wrong. Atheists can believe in many things. What defines someone as an atheist is a single position on a single issue, the existence of any sort of supernatural deity, which may vary depending on the definition.

For example, an atheist may be open to the idea of a divine being of some sort, but will remain unconvinced until tangible, demonstrable proof is provided for said definition of god. For example, Christians are atheists in regard to the Hindu gods.

In short, if you believe in God or Gods, you are theist. If you do not believe in God or Gods, you are atheist. You are free to believe anything else you wish. Hell, the only reason 'atheist' even needs to be a category is because it's the current minority and needs to be differentiated from the belief in Gods.
