It was common, particularly among the nobility, to marry girls between the ages of 12 and 15 during the Medieval period in Europe.
However, it was frowned upon to consummate the marriage until the girl was older.
These marriages were about making alliances, not about making babies (the babies came considerably later).

@tracer: But even if the marriage is not consummated right away, it's expected that it eventually will be. The girl will have no choice in the matter. Any feelings she may have for other boys her own age will have to be put aside because she is considered to be property of her husband. She will be "groomed" to be his bride whether she likes it or not. It's still demeaning and wrong.
