As the CEO of a business that employees 40 people, I have resigned myself to the fact that if Barrack Obama becomes our next President, then our taxes and government fees will increase in a BIG way.
To compensate for these increases, I figure that the Client will have to see an increase in our fees to them of about 8% but since we cannot increase our fees right now due to the state of our economy, we will have to lay off six of our employees instead. This has really been eating at me for a while, as we believe we are family here and I didn’t know how to choose who would have to go.
So, this is what I did. I strolled through our parking lot and found 8 Obama bumper stickers on our employees’ cars and have decided these folks will be the first to be laid off. I can’t think of a more fair way to approach this problem.
If you have a better idea, let me know.

...if firing someone for their political beliefs is legal in America, it ought not to be.
Also, please note that your taxes will go on things that will indirectly BENEFIT your company. Like, public works projects to improve the economy.
Holy fucking shit. Unethical douchebag is unethical. I hope your employees fucking lynch you and throw you off the roof of your building!
I can't find a repeat of it in the search function. :/ You sure it's a repeat?
"I can’t think of a more fair way to approach this problem. "
You could cut your own salary, which I'm sure is far more than your employees'...
Someone needs to be reminded of § 2302(b) of title 5 of the United States Code, badly. It took me 20 seconds to confirm that firing someone based on "race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, handicapping condition, marital status, or political affiliation" is in fact illegal.
You could lay off the 8 people who are doing the least work for the most money.
By laying off Obama supporters, you're gambling whether or not these are hard workers who are going to lose you money or slackers.
What a weird bunch those people are. Half of them are agreeing enthusiastically, half are saying, "don't post this, it's illegal to do this and you could be traced". In other words, breaking the law to those assholes is only wrong if you get caught. Because the law is made by the government of America, which is always evil, but especially evil when a democrat is in charge. And they claim to love America, but they hate America exactly for what it is, pretty blatantly.
1. Not fundie, just anti-Obama.
2. It's an urban legend e-mail the OP just cut and pasted.
It's a made up story used to illustrate that wealth redistribution through taxes helps poor people in the short term but the long term needed fix is to grow new jobs and create new value from our country. I agree with that but I don't think for a second think this is a true story.
Wow. Reading through the rest of that thread, I feel sorry for Warrior of the Word. He's like the one sane voice.
Of course, the Raptard sheeple are trying to BAAAAA him into silence.
Nothing fundie here, folks.
Big-time stupid, sure. Fundie? No.
I'm not an Obama fan, being pretty libertarian and all, but isn't that illegal? I thought there were laws against firing someone for reasons like that. Way to post that online by the way, so the lawyers will be able to find it during the wrongful termination lawsuit.
Ok, I live in Finland, so I'm not all that familiar with USA:s
labourlaws, but in here it is illegal to fire someone because of their political views.
No one on Ruptured Retards owns any business. You're just a bunch of lying death cultists who made up your own version of Christianity.
We've got some tough decisions to make and we're uncertain of the economic challenges that we'll face. We know that in times of challenge there are always opportunities. I'm atheist, but I and my mostly Christian 108 employees are working hard and we've all got more hope now than we've had at any time in the last 8 years. I just wish that you'd change your rapture myth to something more aligned with Jim Jones version--if you don't have anything to offer, I welcome you choosing to leave the planet.
Interesting idea, illegal, but interesting. You would probably have been better off if you hadn't announced your plan to the public.
I knew that the Rapturds would flip out when Obama won.
I smell a lawsuit, and rightfully so. Enjoy your "wealth" while you can. Don't worry, Obama will never get his hands on all of your obviously ethically obtained material prosperity. Your unfairly terminated employees will be compensated well for your lack of Christian compassion, morality and discretion.
If his employees are on "at will" employment, they can be fired for whatever damn reason he wants, and he is not compelled to tell them the reason, or any reason. An business owner with half a brain will get every employee they can working "at will" especially in the current economic climate. You never know when a small business will have to fire half it's staff to make ends meet, and if they could be sued for doing so... that'd be fucked up.
Also, if Obama does completely tank the economy, it is the people who voted for him's fault and the owner would be completely justified in firing the Obama supporters as it was their fault a man who tanked the economy ended up president.
"So, this is what I did. I strolled through our parking lot and found 8 Obama bumper stickers on our employees’ cars and have decided these folks will be the first to be laid off. I can’t think of a more fair way to approach this problem."
FUCK you. I hope your other employees find out about that and unionize on your ass.
I've said this here before: your taxes will increase. Don't blame Obama. It's his job to balance the books that a certain GWB put into a tailspin with his unprovoked war. He cost your country dear in lives and in destroying its economy. He is in no small measure behind the present recession.
It makes not a blind bit of difference. America now has to pay for her Freedom Fries madness.
How is it Germany and France could see through Bush's lunacy and American citizens couldn't?
Well, you had your glory-seeking president, and voted him in for a second term. Now is the time to pay: while he skips off on the lecture circuit to make a quarter of a million for each appearance Americans dig deeper into their shrinking pockets to pay heavier taxes.
And is makes no difference who the president would have been. The next incumbent in the White House would have had no choice about raising taxes anyway. If you're lucky, you may just about have enough left to you to buy some freedom fries every week.
illegality to the side, does this mean that you only support American rights when they favor you? If so, then you are, like so many others, yet another dumbas who only likes the laws when they protect you, another symptom of the canker thats eating America for the last 30 years.
it'll be a relief when the last of the fundies pass on to their Maker - God really is allpowerful, and therefore needs no bastions of narrowminded idiots to back him up.
@ atrasicarius
No party, no government, no country, no century has ever lowered taxes. Even the Bush 'tax cuts' which Obama has said he will allow to lapse (politician speak for "you'll pay more") did not stop your Government taking a greater amount of tax money out of the economy than ever before.
I won't be embarrassed; I'll be ecstatic if taxes go down. But that's even less likely than 'The Rapture'.
If his employees are on "at will" employment, they can be fired for whatever damn reason he wants, and he is not compelled to tell them the reason, or any reason.
This is the stupidest fucking idea in the history of labor and business. I wish to nonexistant god that there was some way to destroy the cop-out that is "at-will" employment.
Actually, since the one post stating this is lost, most states are AT WILL employment, as long as he doesn't say the reason, and he doesn't legally have to, it is perfectly legal. If he needs to lay off people, he could pick people that wear green that day as his reason, people that walk funny, or any number of the EOE requirements... So, in short, a lawsuit won't hold up in court.
(Well, if they can trace him to this post, it will vary by state laws then.)
PS Why is this fundie? This is political crap, not fundie funnies, please let me go somewhere to see something NOT about the damn election. My bank account is already down to nill, all I wanted for christmas was no new taxes.
I'll tag along with Painful and say this is not fundie at all. On a fundie site, yes, but not "very likely religiously motivated" as [seemingly] pure political quotes on FStDT tends to be. And he is not firing them for supporting Obama; he is only planning (and asking for other ways to solve this problem) to let them go first IF he is forced to fire someone. Even though it will be "kind-off" political motivated, he is on the clear since it will be ECONOMIC reasons for the firings first and foremost.
I have seen worse political discrimination - which were acted out - against voters of a certain party here in "happy" Norway, a party that had no success in the case in issue by the way.
So, this is what I did. I strolled through our parking lot and found 8 Obama bumper stickers on our employees’ cars and have decided these folks will be the first to be laid off. I can’t think of a more fair way to approach this problem.
I hope your employees find out and sue you (if you really do this)
Repost...from snopes.com. This was going around quite actively in conspiracy-theorist ("Obama is secretly something other than a corporate centrist and is going to use his special mind-control powers to institute socialism -- which is the deliberate destruction of human happiness through the oppression of our righteous overlords, the CEOs") circles.
Confused?
