Even IF someone on welfare were collecting it fraudulently, that would in no way mitigate Hovind's multiple crimes. (I believe it was 58!)

Welfare recipients... everyone's favourite punching bag. I don't know what the situation is like in America, but here in the land of kangaroos, our welfare payments are below poverty level. Sure, there are some people who are fraudently claiming payments despite having an income, but for the vast majority of these welfare \"cheats\", life is pretty miserable.

This is just sad. Trying to justify Hovind's unethical practices by judging people who actually need taxpayer money. Welfare is a government program. While there are those who use it fraudulently, the vast majority don't. Even though this is the case, it doesn't mean that Hovind is justified in what he did. He's guilty of tax fraud, plain and simple. He's where he should be, in jail. And he needs to stay there, getting that good ol' fashioned buttsecks.

I'm betting most his followers are also incapable of handling anything but the most menial of jobs and are on some assistance, you can't be to bright if you believe Hovinds "theories" or credentials.
