People on welfare have no income because they're unemployed. That's why it's called welfare, you idiot. There is no fraud in that.

Even IF someone on welfare were collecting it fraudulently, that would in no way mitigate Hovind's multiple crimes. (I believe it was 58!)
I save my outrage for the proved crimes and the convicted criminal, thank you, not the purely hypothetical ones.

Welfare recipients... everyone's favourite punching bag. I don't know what the situation is like in America, but here in the land of kangaroos, our welfare payments are below poverty level. Sure, there are some people who are fraudently claiming payments despite having an income, but for the vast majority of these welfare \"cheats\", life is pretty miserable.

Good old Christian charity. My favorite bit of the NT is when Jesus washes those beggars' feet, then starts throwing furniture at them for stealing his precious Messiah Time.

I must say, certain people abuse the welfare system. Especially here in New York. So yeah. They piss me off too, Miss Liza.
Stupid people thinking they can read everyone's thoughts...

Yeah, Jesus would never stand for the poor being helped.

a mind far far away
This is just sad. Trying to justify Hovind's unethical practices by judging people who actually need taxpayer money. Welfare is a government program. While there are those who use it fraudulently, the vast majority don't. Even though this is the case, it doesn't mean that Hovind is justified in what he did. He's guilty of tax fraud, plain and simple. He's where he should be, in jail. And he needs to stay there, getting that good ol' fashioned buttsecks.

Yeah, cause you get rich on welfare. And welfare people build creation-dino-parks and charge admission and then claim no income. And all those videos those jerks on welfare produce and sell while still claiming welfare.
Hell, I'll bet a lot of Hovinds employees were encouraged to apply (some of them claimed no income at his advice as well)

Welfare checks tend to go straight back into the economy.
2/1/2009 3:25:22 AM
I'm mad at them, too, but at least they usually don't go about, loudly and publicly claiming moral superiority while doing so fifty-eight times.

One steals a big sum of money and the other just recieves some from the government.

You sir are an Idiot and a greedy bastard...
What happened to Helping those in need??
Doesn't your holy book say something about helping others or am i just thinking about the care bears again..

Kent Hovind is also a chronic liar in addition to a crook.
2/17/2012 5:58:49 PM
Millionaires steal from me too. I'd concentrate on closing tax loopholes first because it'll raise more money than dealing with benefit fraud.
2/18/2012 4:35:34 AM
People on welfare generally don't have an agenda, other than survival.
Hovind, on the other hand, uses his religion to cover his crimes, to make a living off of ignorance, and then expects the taxpayers to foot the bill.
2/18/2012 5:43:01 AM
American Conservatives have confused "living on welfare" with "winning the lottery."
2/18/2012 6:51:31 AM
When earlier on given options to pay his fines and back taxes Hovind suggested his followers could do that maybe. I'm betting most his followers are also incapable of handling anything but the most menial of jobs and are on some assistance, you can't be to bright if you believe Hovinds "theories" or credentials.
Nope, sorry Elizabeth, but you can't. Hovind's not just a con-man, he's also bad at it but in America you can pull some of the most ridiculous shit imaginable if you aim it at the knowledge hating fundamentalists crowd. Why do you think Comfort and Ham came to America to build their bullshit empires?
2/18/2012 7:36:32 AM
Lie much, bitch?
8/18/2012 5:39:38 AM
People on welfare "steal" to get food and a roof over their head.
Hovind stole to line his already full pockets.
8/18/2012 6:44:51 AM
Filin De Blanc
Welfare cheats generally don't claim to be moral authorities while they're ripping off the general public like Hovind did.
