He was. Read any reputable biography of Charles Darwin. He was an ordained clergyman of the C of E. Darwin did not cease to be a Christian until the death of his daughter in 1851--AFTER he developed his evolutionary theory! Just because he didn't publish On the Origin of Species until 1859, doesn't mean he hadn't already worked out his theory--in fact, there is much evidence that he had devised his theory of natural selection in the 1830's and 40's.

Well, considering that all the evidence points to evolution being a real phenomenon, I'd say you'd have to be pretty damned crazy to pretend otherwise.
That's like whining because someone said that sane people believe the Earth revolves around the sun. Of course they do! We've proven that it does!
