If people wanted gay marriage to be legal, shouldn't they make polygamy marriages legal too?
In the sense of "freedom", shouldn't they make Polyandry and incest marriages legal also? what about inter-species marriage or what if I wanted to marry a tree?

marriage between any number of consenting parties.
animals and trees cant give consent.
incest, polygamy, why not?
Frankly I see nothing *wrong* with polygamous relationships, or any other multiple-partner construct for that matter, so long as all people involved give consent. I'm driven a little crazy just trying to keep up with one lady in my life, but that's me.
And if we ever discover another sentient species intelligent enough to give consent, then sure, multi-species marriages all the way.
sure, let's make poly marriages legal, just as long as everybody knows about what's going on and everybody is OK with it there is no problem with poly.
As for animals and trees, they can't give informed consent. Marriage is only between two or more beings that are capable of giving informed consent. Animals and trees do not qualify, intelligent aliens would.
No, no, maybe, can't give consent, no point as trees don't pay taxes.
You act like this is an easy-to-confuse issue.
The Bible approves polygamy and incest. Animals and trees can't because, you know, umm...
They can't fucking decide!

Yes, yes, yes, maybe, and no.
Thanks for playing!

If that's the only way to marry someone less intelligent than you, go for it.
If I can sell my house to a gay man, why can't I sell it to multiple people? Why can't I sell it to a dog? Or a tree?
About the incest, 25 states still allow first cousins to marry and all states will recognize these marriages. Only one of those forbid double cousins to marry. So yeah, don't be pushing that one too hard.

Yeah! Good thing religious folk are out there fighting for the sanctity of "traditional" marriage, eh? Religious folk like the Mormons, out there spreading the message that it should only be one man and one woman... these days.
if there's consent, why not... but, please think of the children, incestous relations have a higher chance of having a handicapped offspring, other then that, please, be my guest

You mean like it was in the bible?
As long as all partners in said polyandrist (sp?), polygamist, incestuous, and inter-species marriages give willing consent while being mentally capable of doing so, go right ahead. As for the tree... I think that the tree would object to having to marry you. So no. No, you may not marry the poor tree.
I saw a program the other night, the cops pulled up a guy wearing a short skirt, fishnet stockings, fake boobs and a wig. He was a preist for the local youth group.

Yes, yes, no for very good genetic reasons (perhaps yes with efficient DNA screening), no unless you can prove consent in which case yes, yes.

Hilarious.
And, in order: yes, yes, not sure, only if we happen to find another species intelligent enough to give informed consent . As for the tree, see above.
As someone who doesn't care about what other people do in their bedrooms, if 16 dudes want to marry each other or each other, a dog and some women, I honestly don't give a flying fuck.
Okay I’m going to divide my answer into a few sections to make this easier.
Polygamy, I have no problem with the theory of polygamy if a man or woman wants to form a life long relationship with any number of women or men or any combination of the two. Providing all parties understand and consent to the arrangement, why should I care.
My only problem with polygamy comes from the fact that it traditionally (as in the bible) tends to be one man using it to dominate a number of wives.
Incestuous, my gut reaction is no because of the clear risk of a wide range of genetic faults being inherited by any children produced by the relationship. If the possibility of children is removed then I (reluctantly) withdraw my objections.
I accept that much of my objections to incest are cultural as many of the oldest laws are against incest. Unlike the bible which in places approves of such behaviour.
Inter-species, with a sentient life form, there are none on earth except humanity and some times I question that fact. Providing it will not cause a genetic or medical disaster I have no problem with it. (I know we are yet to discover alien life but I thought I would clarify my position)
With a non-sentient the fundies favourite example being a dog for some reason. Such a union can not have informed consent from both parties and should therefore be illegal
Plant based relationships, (I am sure there is a term for it but I cannot be bothered to look it up) A plant cannot give informed consent let alone sign the legal documents therefore such a relationship should remain illegal.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
