Quote# 52369

there are according to my local radio station in l.a. a big protest tomorrow on prop 8 and this is really annoying me. i mean this prop passed - and this should stand but people are not letting this go and trying to force their beliefs on the majority of california who voted yes for prop 8. this really needs prayer still and it is a HUGE spiritual battle going on in this state.

I'd like to protest against the propaganda that the Mormons used against Prop 8

"a big protest tomorrow on prop 8 and this is really annoying me. i mean this prop passed - and this should stand but people are not letting this go and trying to force their beliefs"

Mirror mirror on the wall...hey it's shirly phelps.

Jesus Klingon

people are not letting this go and trying to force their beliefs on the majority of California

They're not forcing their beliefs on anybody. They want what you want: to be happily married and left alone in peace.

11/18/2008 1:12:19 AM

Yeah, they should just accept that the majority voted to deny rights to a minority! And we should re-evaluate whether blacks should be allowed to marry, too![/sarcasm]

11/18/2008 1:13:41 AM

Let me guess, if prop 8 had gone the other way, Fundies wouldn't be screaming and protesting?

Thought so. Now, do everyone a favor, move to Iran where there are no gays

Malkavian Jeff

They already did when gay marriage was legal in california. Now they've forgotten about it.

11/18/2008 1:16:28 AM

I'd like to step back to the 1950s and take a majority vote on desegregation. Care to go with popularity on that one?

Well, yeah, you assholes probably would.

11/18/2008 1:21:45 AM

Oh, and you're NOT forcing your beliefs on the people of California by voting 'yes' on it? Bitch, allowing gay marriage will not interfere with your religious beliefs. No one is forcing you to marry someone of the same sex, so shut the fuck up. No one is forcing anything on you. This doesn't even affect you.

And women and blacks didn't give up their protests when people were stomping all over their rights, and gays sure as hell won't until they too have achieved equality.

11/18/2008 1:23:50 AM

It got passed because you Fundie fuckheads LIED. The Mormon and Catholic Churches paid for those lies. Hence the deserved protests.

11/18/2008 1:26:05 AM

No they should not let it go.
Yes there is a huge spiritual battle going on. You're oppressing your neighbour. You're on the side of evil.

11/18/2008 1:32:44 AM

Tolerance: DO NOT WANT!

Am I Fundie enough, yet?

11/18/2008 1:36:38 AM

Old Viking

It's a battle over the denial of civil rights. The only spiritual aspect exists in your demented minds.

11/18/2008 1:37:50 AM

I'd like to protest against your living.

11/18/2008 1:41:58 AM

A Friend

I'm sure if the mormon church had enough money to run ad campaigns then they must have enough money for uncle sam also.

11/18/2008 1:56:59 AM

a mind far far away

No one is trying to force you to believe that homosexual marriage is ok. You can believe whatever you want to about it. But letting them marry doesn't mean that you have to believe it's ok. But if it had passed, since they "are not letting this go", would you and your kind have not protested against it? You would have, and would have damned anyone who would have tryed to silence you. So STFU.

11/18/2008 2:00:08 AM

Despite my opposition to Prop. 8, you had me until you mentioned "this really needs prayer still".

That's when the Fundie-meter kicked in.

11/18/2008 2:02:54 AM

I'm wondering if they honestly never heard of the right to protest *yay, homeschooling* or if they just dont care.

11/18/2008 2:03:03 AM

And yet, fundies across the nation refuse to accept Obama's victory.

11/18/2008 2:19:09 AM

The Watcher

I suppose this is why you all stopped trying to get abortion bans on the ballot in South Dakota after one failed? Oh, right, you didn't.

11/18/2008 2:40:40 AM

Anti-abortion laws were litigated in court and lost. Polls show the majority of Americans believe in choice. So by the same logic, should abortion protesters be banned?

11/18/2008 3:01:36 AM

All I can say is:

11/18/2008 3:18:19 AM

Allegory for Jesus

I'm afraid that you can't justify a suppression of people's rights by saying "what's done is done". They are not trying to force their beliefs on you...they are trying to shake your beliefs' grip on them.

11/18/2008 3:24:04 AM

Putting aside the fact that America IS NOT A FUCKING POLIARCHY YOU IGNORANT TWAT...

...yes, we will continue to oppose your bigotry and selfishness until we win. Get used to the idea.

11/18/2008 3:27:28 AM

Duck On Skates

It's a civil rights issue. People got their right to marry yanked away from them.
And you wonder why they are pissed off?
This my be a shocker to you, but here in the States, the rights of minorities should be protected too. California FAILED massively on this one.

11/18/2008 3:35:23 AM

Yeah, because fundie Christians just sat on their hands and retreated into silence when same-sex marriage was legalized in California...oh, *wait*.
