*nudity outside is legal in Seattle*

I think that is just downright dirty and DISGUISTING!!!! Ewwww, what if that bike rider parked his bike and someone (unknowingly) touched it?????

Could you imagine how ackward and intimidated molested children feels when they see this; further more anyone that has had a sexual crime commited against them. It's almost like re-victimizing them.

Come Judgment Day, they'll be looking for something to cover their nakedness, and they will not find it. They will be exposed beyond imagine.

I'm calling this a pedophile precedent. Step by step they are legally placing themselves closer to your children.
If you live in a liberal stronghold like this, I would not let your children go anywhere public unattended...Not even teens. In Vermont molesting a child is treated like a misdemeanor.

I've never understood the Christian fundie reaction to nudity. Why is the naked human body, something "God" supposedly made in his own image, shameful? WTF, seriously.

Oh, and the average ass is MUCH cleaner than the average hand or face.

11/19/2008 3:31:12 AM

Well I'm not looking for any lord's approach over this, but public nudity needs to be reserved for specific areas that everyone knows about and can avoid if they wish...nude beaches for example. Anyone dipshit running around naked around me or my kid outside of those areas is going to be eating his nuts, and tolerance can go fuck itself.

Hit the gym, lardass. Then maybe you won't be afraid of nudity.

Also, they can't be nude in parks, pools or anywhere children are present.

If the priests haven't molested them, then they wouldn't have that problem.

@ #822359:

Fundie detected.

Studies have shown that cultures with taboos about nudity have MUCH higher rates of sexual crime. It is only because of attitudes like yours, that the natural human body is somehow "wrong", that such problems are as rampant as they are.

Perverts act as they do because they grew up like you. They are forced to repress their sexuality and must treat nudity as taboo. As such, it becomes an obsession.

Nudity is only a big deal to you and the perverts your mindset creates because you shield yourself from it and you associate it exclusively with sexuality. You negatively associate a person's naked body with sex instead of the just the person. You objectify their naked body instead of simply seeing it as an extension of the same person you were talking to before they disrobed. I won't even go into the ridiculous negative connotations you attribute to sex itself.

Ask anyone in the health care industry that has to look at naked people on a regular basis. They will ALL tell you that the taboo wears off quickly and they don't even care anymore. Nudity seen on a regular basis becomes a non-issue. Lack of clothing becomes as little an issue as whether you're wearing green or blue. The connection to sexuality doesn't even enter your mind... in well-adjusted people, anyway.

Anyway, do your kids a favor and get over your irrational fears and bigotry. Otherwise, you might raise a couple of perverts.

Allegory for Jesus

1. Why is the human body disgusting.
2. What the hell is this lesbian group demon you speak of.
3. I would assume that molested children wouldn't care so much about people being naked as much as, you know, seeing the molestor or being physically touched in a manner that causes to remember the affair. And...what the hell kind of argument is that against public nudity anyway?
4. Why would a naked person have a higher incidence of leaving "disease" in a fountain than any other person.
5. Don't people usually get Raptured naked.
6. What the hell does nudity have to do with pedophilia.

@#822395,

Grow up and put on some pants. Not everyone wants to see your dumb ass running around with your junk hanging out. FYI, I'm anti-fundie, pro-choice, and I don't give two shits if gay people get married. I have no interest in seeing anyone besides my husband nude, and I think it's inappropriate for adults to be nude around children. Just because I'm not a Christian and abortion and gay people don't offend me doesn't mean I have to be all about every moron in the world running around nude at any time he or she gets the urge.

Oh, and your fundie detector seems to have a short, might want to run that one in for testing ;)

Who goes around touching people's bikes?!

Fountains are nasty anyway, there's no reason to be near one.

I don't see how public nudity is a step closer to pedophilia.
See, pedophilia usually takes place on private property, where nudity is a guaranteed freedom.

Sorry, but you only proved me right, 822401. Your taboo on nudity is baseless and you only associate it with "dirty" feelings of sexuality, as if people aren't naked underneath their clothing. Your irrational fear of nudity only harbors those feelings in your children.

That said, though, I'm not a nudist. I hold the exact same taboo. It's just how I was raised. However, while I may not be comfortable with my own nudity, I do not impose that uneasiness on others. I do not think that my psychological problem gives me any right to complain about other people doing as they wish. After all, nudity is natural and it isn't like nudists are going around thrusting their genitals into people's faces.

But if you feel so strongly about it, no one is forcing you to go out in public. Start a "clothing mandatory" club out in Montana or something.

One last thing. I'd like to know EXACTLY what you have against nudity. What reason do you have for wanting to force everybody to wear clothing? I ask because you claim not to be Christian, yet the only actual answers I've ever seen for this question cherry pick quotes from the Bible and pair nudity with shame and/or "Sin". What's so wrong with "junk"?

11/19/2008 4:53:37 AM

a mind far far away

So nudity and lesbianism are intertwined? But not gay males and nudity? Or straight porn? That's twisted. Why would we buy oil lamps? We have electricity now. It's a pretty awsome thing, just having been discovered and all. You should try it sometime, it makes those oil lamps and candles obsolete.

Seems this was taken out of context on a one off protest against oil.

Parks officials had acted on the proposed rule in part because of concern about a World Naked Bike Rides event on July 12, one of three this year held to draw attention to oil dependency.

The cyclists got a permit to gather at Gas Works Park, where they stripped, painted themselves and rode to Seattle Center.

I think they should also only be naked in certain places, like beaches/parks sectioned off especially for that. I don't believe nudity hurts children, but damn it, I don't want to see naked people everywhere! I'm already a germophobe. I don't need to worry about sitting where someone had their bare ass.

Then look away. Everybody has something on his/her appearance someone else does not want to see (long hair, short hair, blue hair, pants, short skirt, long skirt, beard, no beard, piercings, body fat, white skin, black skin, dreadlocks, glasses ...); you just have to deal with this when you are in public. Instead you want to force your personal preferences how people should look (in this case dress) on everybody else.

It isn't hygienic, either.

Depends. While I agree that sitting nude on a bench is not very hygienic, where is the problem with walking around or sitting in the grass? Also, outdoor benches cannot be hygienic, what with birds and other animals sitting on them, rain falling on them etc.

BTW: Mysophobia can be cured.
