Bill Maher shouldn't even get to vote until he shows he is able to be a good husband and father (one of the scriptural reqs for leadership).

Voting is a civil right. It has nothing to do with scripture or religion.
In effect, you are trying to impose your religion into the political milieu. This means that whatever church you belong to should lose its tax exemption as it is acting politically.
If being a good spouse and parent was a requirement for voting, 80% of the population would be barred from the polls...
...especially the fundies!
Let's ignore the fundamentalism for a moment. Why is it necessary to be a good leader in order to vote? Surely, even in a meritocracy, it would be based around the ability to recognise a good leader, which is completely different.
Who in the fuck are you to say who can and can't vote, based off of your fairy tale book, which Maher doesn't even believe in anyway. So fuck you, go to hell, and DIAF.
Bill Maher A Christian shouldn't even get to vote until he shows he is able to be a good husband and father can demonstrate his righteous and unshakable walk with Christ (one of the scriptural reqs for leadership).
My only question is: Who gets to decide what constitutes "being a good husband and father"?
That's the worst New Rule I've ever heard.
I'll make you a deal, chuck2. You let us lowly unmarrieds & childfrees keep our votes, and I’ll promise to go on a honeymoon with Bill Maher and behave with him as if we were trying to conceive loads of children.
(Hey, it was worth a try. Mmmm, Bill... [*swoon*])
@ anonymous:
I submitted the quote; I didn't think the context in this case added anything to the fundie-punch that that one sentence packs, so I just left the rest to anyone who wants to click the link. (Maybe I'm missing something: is there something in the full post that suggests the original poster doesn't mean what he says in that sentence?)
Anyway. Bill rocks. :O)
Forgive me for asking, but what does voting have to do with leadership? Perhaps I'm confused, given that I am neither a husband nor a father, and my poor bachelor brain is having difficulty processing this enlightening information.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
