To be fair, negative birth rate is a valid term. It means that fewer than 2 children are being born to couple, i.e. 2 being the number of children needed to replace that couple in the population when they die.

Whether or not that's a bad thing is another issue.

I can see a situation where Europe's native population seriously shrinks - but that it's enhanced by immigrants. And even speaking as a white native European, I say: so what?

The world population is in no danger - the contrary in fact.

So, unless you're hung up on whiteness, it doesn't matter!

I was talking to a Catholic guy I've worked with and been friends with for over twenty-five years now about this, he has three lovely kids, the youngest is seventeen.

On the subject of family planning all he would say was 'you don't understand'. I suspect what they do is use contraception and then go to confession. A little Jesuitical, I thnk.

Edit: If fundy christianity was to take over the governments, we'd all be dead in about five years. They're convinced global warming isn't happening, when it's clear that it is. They're convinced there's not an over-population problem, when it's clear that there is. Scientific discovery would cease, meaning no more cures for diseases, better medical technology, better technology all around. Humanity would cease to move forward, instead, it would move backward, specifically toward the dark ages. Learning would cease. Science and philosophy would become extinct. Basic human freedoms would be taken away. You want to know what the west run by christianity would look like? Look at Saudi Arabia, or Iran, or any fundamentalist Islamic state. It's chaos. It's horrible, and no human should be subject to that kind of degradation.

Secular humanism has nothing to do with it. Educating and empowering women is probably the single biggest factor, once they realise that they are more than just baby factories they free themselves to have a much more active life.
