Quote# 52751

I had the same rapture dream for a few years about 2-3 times a year. I was just a young child in the dream though, and back on the street where I grew up. I did though actually hear the voices in an angelic choir coming from above where the clouds were parting. NOT what I thought it would sound like. Just bizarre musical scales coming from a million voices. (This was confirmed by many who've heard the same thing whether in visions, dreams or while conscious.) I was running down the street looking up screaming He's coming, He's coming! I was in an utter panic trying to reach my house before it was too late, I was thinking of my family and how was I going to reach them before ZAP.

Every time, I never do. I'm just about at the front door and the dream ends.

I was so frightened in that dream that played over and over again over the course of time, I could practically dictate the way it would occur while I was asleep.

Now was this from God? I don't know. I don't see why it would be. I don't see why it would be from Satan either. Perhaps it's many ideas and worries within my self-conscious that blended with my faith and it came out while I was asleep where we're vulnerable to suggestion and over active brain activity.

Funny thing is the dreams ceased once I found out my childhood home was torn down and another one built in it's place.

Our brains are a real mystery aren't they?

Hint: It's just a dream.

Have no fear. Your dream is definitely from the great beyond. You should take comfort from it, for although there is not a mention of the Rapture in the Bible, this particular heresy dating from the 1830s, I think, you have definitely made contact with something that confirms it for you.

But the fear that you feel in the dream is misplaced. After all, you have placed all your trust in this belief, and you will not be disappointed. The Rapture will come and you will be Raptured. You just have to wait patiently for the moment to come. Then you will find that you are indeed running home in fear to meet your family for one last time before Satan takes you deluded heretics to a place he has prepared for you from the beginning of the world.

Sleep well!

This is a standard stress dream. People often dream they are frantically racing to do something that they don't seem to be able to accomplish as a way of the brain dealing with stress they are subject to in their waking life. There is nothing supernatural or religious about it.

It's called a lucid dream.

My guess would be you were abused/mistreated in your old home, and channeled that into religious fervor. And once you found out the place you were abused was gone, there went the dreams too.

Reverend Jeremiah

Well, its been confirmed..you missed the rapture..thats the only spiritual explanation for it.

Paschal Wagner

If your family is so sinful that they're not going to get raptured with you, why do you care? They clearly deserve to burn in hell forever.

Mr Smith

I was in an utter panic trying to reach my house before it was too late, I was thinking of my family and how was I going to reach them before ZAP.

Why would you be panicking if it was the rapture? Doesn't it sound more like an anxiety dream or nightmare?

11/26/2008 11:07:01 AM

Why are you so scared in your dream, if the bejebus is all that and you can't wait for the Rapture?

11/26/2008 11:21:57 AM

What I want to know is, if conversion at the point of rapture counts, why would anybody bother to convert before that? And converting at the point of rapture (assuming for sake of argument that that would ever happen) makes the most sense cos then you have that thing, what's it called again? Oh yes - proof!

So by this logic, be a disbeliever until there's proof otherwise, then convert and be saved. No problem.

Sometimes I have crazy, reoccurring dreams, too.

But that's usually when I watch The Science of Sleep before bed.

So let me get this straight. You were running down the street hoping the rapture wasn't going to happen yet? Have they banned you from the site?

"Our brains are a real mystery aren't they?"

Yes, your brains are a mystery, indeed.

Hey, at least the bottom half of the post is mildly sane.

11/26/2008 12:30:27 PM

Hmm. Is there a psychiatrist in the house?

11/26/2008 12:33:45 PM

Mister Spak

I have a recurring dream where lots of colorfully lit UFOs are making low passes over my house. I put a camera on a telescope to get very close up pictures so I can reverse engineer them later.

"I did though actually hear the voices in an angelic choir coming from above where the clouds were parting"
No those were just the voices medicine can cure

Princess Rot

This is a little bizarre - dreams usually are - but I don't see how it's fundie. Just because his dream's subject matter was religious doesn't necessarily make it fundie.

"Just bizarre musical scales coming from a million voices. "

Kinda like the choral pieces in "2001: A Space Odyssey". Right?

I would have to say 'over active brain activity' for this person is HIGHLY unlikely....

I had recurring dreams where I was getting hot and heavy with a young Harrison Ford. For some reason he was wearing his Nazi disguise from 'Last Crusade', and several of my old teachers were sitting nearby, grading my performance.

It stopped after I saw 'Kingdom of the Crystal Skull'. And I doubt it'll ever come back.

Yes, your brain is a mystery.
