[If religion didn't exist would homosexuality be wrong]

This is kind of like the "if a tree falls in a forest and if there's no one to hear it, does it make a sound" question. There's no way morality couldn't exist. Same with religion. If religion was a myth, then why have people been practicing it for 2,000 years? A myth has never lasted for that long.
It isn't a sin to be gay, but acting upon it is wrong. Putting your fantasies into action is the sin.

You forgot the part where you prove God exists. Oh, that's right.

Putting your fantasies into action is the sin.

You must have the dullest life. I feel sorry for you.

"There's no way morality couldn't exist. Same with religion."

Care to support this assertion? I see no reason why a society couldn't develop with morality but without religion since one has jack shit to do with the other.

"If religion was a myth, then why have people been practicing it for 2,000 years?"

Two thousand? You're not very well versed in religious studies, are you?

"A myth has never lasted for that long."

Plato mentioned Atlantis in his Dialogues in 360 B.C.E. Do I need say anything more?

"It isn't a sin to be gay, but acting upon it is wrong."

Why? Explain this to me, please. What exactly makes it inherently wrong?

"Putting your fantasies into action is the sin."

Making fantasy into reality is what got us out of caves and into nice air conditioned condos you moron.

Is he suggesting that before christianity, there was no religion? That's pretty egotistical.

No, it isn't.

Really? A version of the vanishing hitchhiker myth was around in ancient times.

It isn't a sin to be gay, but acting upon it is wrong. Putting your fantasies into action is the sin

Blah blah blah.

well the Australian Aboriginal Dreamtime Myths have been around for at least 10 thousand years

from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Aboriginal_mythology
-----------------------------
An Australian linguist, R. M. W. Dixon, recording Aboriginal myths in their original languages, encountered coincidences between some of the landscape details being told about within various myths, and some of the harder scientific discoveries being made about the same landscapes.[5]

In the case of the Atherton Tableland myths telling of the origins of Lake Eacham, Lake Barrine, and Lake Euramo, geological research had dated the same formative volcanic explosions described by Aboriginal myth tellers, as having occurred more than 10 000 years ago. Pollen fossil sampling from the silt that'd settled to the bottom of those craters since their formation confirmed Aboriginal myth-tellers advice that at the time eucalypt forests dominated rather than the current wet tropical rain forests.[6][7]. (See Lake Euramo for an excerpt of the original myth, translated)

Since you've just proved that Hinduism is the true religion, why does your profile identify you as a Catholic?

I want to say this: is this guy such an idiot to think that myths that predate christianity or are from around the same time aren't real? There are dozens of examples. Someone mentioned Aboriginal Dreamtime. What about the Egyptian, Celtic, Norse, Greek, and Roman pagan myths (yes, there are those who still believe those, neo-pagan reconstructionists)? What about the myths of Hinduism? Native American myths? Shinto? What a fucking idiot.

This is the kind of blatent stupidity that makes me unable to respect religious people.

1. 2000 years? Hey religions have been around BEFORE JESUS.
2. Well if lasting long makes something valid, then the poster should be converting to Judaism or Hinduism...both older than Christianity.

2,000 years? Really 0_0? All I have to say is Judaism(you know, the religion whom yours originated from. The one you guys branched out of as a batshit insane little cult).

@ M.M., funny how that works, huh? I would love to see the fundie response to that since most will actually say 'you can be gay just don't have gay sex', but also will compare it to murder and rape, etc.

Ahh, but if the word "sin" didn't exist would there be fundies?

The ancient peoples of the world called. They would like a word. (Please allow some time for the Polynesians to sail over.)

This is kind of like the "if a tree falls in a forest and if there's no one to hear it, does it make a sound" question.

Uh...what? No it isn't. Logicsplanation please? Unless you're trying to make a roundabout point about perception as reality, but since you're not making any sense in the rest of your post, I'll have to call FAIL on this one.

Sexuality happens.

If Pagan and Hinduism is wrong, then why would people have been practicing it for thousands of more years than your religion?

11/26/2008 11:01:21 PM

Actually. Religion has existed far longer than 2,000 years. Try "in the history of Homo Sapiens" and you would be far closer. Though there is evidence that religion predates Homo Sapiens. Neanderthal Man almost certainly practiced religion of some sort and even more primitive members of the genus practiced funerary rites which would suggest that they too had a spiritual nature.

And. There are many, many, myths which predate Christianity. India alone has a rich mythical tradition that goes back 5,000 years and more. Egyptians, Persians, Native Americans, Europeans, Asians and Aboriginal Australians are just a few of the others who have myths older than Chrisianity or even Judaism. So I guess we can assume that "Rosary16" is utterly ignorant of history outside what some hayseed preacher has been spouting.

Well people believed in Osirus or Zeus for just as long as Christ, are those Gods, and the religions of which they are a part, just a myth?
