Would you please site the passage that states a woman is to leave her husband based on physical abuse. There is one for sexual immorality, but not for abuse... try reading how God instructed the Israelites to treat their slaves. There was a limitation on the amount of abuse, but there was quite a bit of abuse allowed.

Who the fuck cares what the BIBLE says?

If a woman is being abused by her husband it is HELL and she has to get out of the marriage as soon as possible.

Yes, and this is exactly the problem with the Bible: a set of books designed to keep women and people of "other" races down and out. So of course the scribes who wrote the Bible chose to include some passages on slavery such as:

Luke 7:2; Titus 2:9; Colossians 3:22; Luke 12:47; Exodus 21:1; Exodus 21:20; Exodus 21:32; Lev 25:44; 1 Timothy 6:1-2; Ephesians 6:5

And where it's perfectly acceptable to rape women: Deuteronomy 22:23-29.

Wrong, wrong, wrong.

Well, we don't exactly have slavery anymore, Eladar. So if that can change, so can the way society treats women. Deal with it.

The bible also says not to eat pork, don't touch a woman on her period, don't pray in public, or dispute with the government, to hate your parents, don't plan or prepare, or call anyone father.

There was a case here on Cape Cod not long ago where a woman shot her husband because of the threat of violence (she happened to be a doctor with a practice down the street from my house actually). It was quite beyond question that she did it, but the grand jury declined to prosecute. After the fact, the conservative yammerers around here were complaining about her getting off -- funny, I couldn't get any message from them other than "uppity bitch", no matter what they said.

This is Massachusetts. Around here we at least try to treat our women a little better than that.

They do seem to forget the passage about 'doing unto others...(Matt 7:12)' don't they?
Maybe if a few people started beating the crap out of abusers, they'd get the message that it was just being 'done unto them'.
