How satisfying it was to see Christians unite and successfully use the democratic process to bring the state constitutions of Florida and California into line with biblical scripture.
They didn't amend their constitutions, They just enacted statutes that will likely get struck down as unconstitutional.
Such heroic action has stopped, for now, the steadily creeping infringement of homosexuality on the institution of marriage.
Do theists have a monopoly on marriage? It is not the place of christians or anyone else to decide who can and who cannot get married. How do Steve and Bob getting married effect anyone else's marriage, much less the institution of marriage itself?
Hopefully, this success will embolden Christians to organize to stop two even more significant threats to marriage. Those threats are divorce and adultery.
And what about the woman who marries a man only to find out that he like to beat the shit out of her, should she have to consign herself to a lifetime of abuse just so your "god", or your "christian values" are not offended?
In keeping with biblical scripture, state constitutions need to be amended now to prohibit divorce and to establish penalties for adultery.
And just how do you intend on enforcing a law against adultery? And since when does biblical scripture have any bearing on US law?
Law-enforcement agencies need the authorization to identify and arrest adulterers.
Do you honestly think that filling up our already overpopulated and overstretched prison system with people who's only crime was an act between two consenting adults is going to cause more good than harm? The idea is ludicrous on it's face. How could you prove adultery beyond a reasonable doubt? What penalty would it carry? And what are you going to do when the majority of your precious televagelists are behind bars?
Protection of the institution of marriage demands nothing less.
the "institution of marriage" demands nothing save that all may benefit from it.
Onward, Christian soldiers.
Go find yourself a nice place to make you perfect little theocracy and get the fuck out of my republic.
Beware, fornicators, gamblers, card players and dancers. You are next.
That's a pipe dream if I ever heard one.
