Perhaps it could be that you've been on both sides and your experience says yours is the better.
But most of us Atheists have been on both sides and our eperience says this is better.
Whether you're deceiving yourself into believing in Allah, Jesus, Thor, Osiris or Shiva, you all get the same mental 'happy pill' from your self deception. This emotion is not evidence of anything other than your ability to induce emotion.
There's a reason people say "Without faith, Christianity sounds crazy".
That's because it is.
What would the universe look like if there was a God?
1) He wouldn't play stupid hide and seek games. There would be unequivocal evidence of his existance.
2) The way prayers get answered would be unequivocal. It might be a firm "no" to fit a divine plan, or it might be "yes", but they would be answered differently from the way a shamrock or your left shoe answers prayers.
3) The evidence in the universe would match the account given in Holy Books, from fossils, physics, maths and history.
4) Revelation would demonstrate knowledge not known to sheep-herders.
5) God would be just. Therefore 'original sin' would not exist. Creation would not suffer from the 'Fall of man'. Bastards would get into Heaven.
6) There would be physical evidence of the claims of religion, from appearances of souls in heaven to warnings from those who went to hell.
7) The promises of the Bible would be kept and jesus would have actually returned in the first century BC
8) The Gospels would agree with each other, such that a single consistant account incorporating every detail of all four Gospel-writers could be produced.
9) Add your own additional differencesw from the abundant possibilities.
Since these things do not exist, there is no God.
If you believe "God is truth" then you must seek the truth. But the truth is "there is no God."
