Quote# 53209

Yes, God forbid alternatives are taught. So much for "tolerance."

I love how Darwinists want to ban all mention of alternate ideas, while ID people are perfectly fine with evolution being taught. Funny who ends up being open-minded.

I can kinda see his point, but I have a problem with teaching stuff that is blatantly wrong just so some people can feel validated and tolerated.

I have no problem with ID being taught in a RME class. However 'Bam fucking magic(or goddidit)' is not science so has no place in a science class.

ID people SAY they have no problem accepting evolution. One of their dishonest attempts to get ID into schools. First step, Get ID into schools (by denying it's about Christian Creation via the Bible even though it is)

If they'd gotten away with it removing evolution (and some history books) would have been step two

Ok, oh open minded one, can I come and preach Gaian Cosmism in your church?

1/1/2009 3:08:16 PM

Try teaching evolution in a church, see how IDers feel.

@ Tempus,

That was almost the same as the ID lecture given at university by one of the biology professors, but he also suggested that phrenology should be taught instead of neurology (as a joke) then told us a story about how Darwin was almost not allowed on the Beagle because his head was a weird shape and the captain done phrenology.

What alternate universe are you from?

2/28/2009 10:14:40 AM

Actually, most ID people I've met are eager to abolish evolution and make everyone a YEC.

I have no problem with people getting taught ID.
However, it is not science. It does not belong in the science class. Teach it in a religion class.
And in my experience it really does kids a disservice if it's taught instead of real science.

I think Zeus shit out the universe just before I was born. That needs to get equal time.

What a fucking moron.

Dr. Weird

I wonder if Brian also supports the teaching of Alchemy and Astrology as "alternate ideas" to Chemistry and Astrophysics?

Probably does.

Decision in the matter of Kitzmiller v. Dover Area School District, Judge John E. Jones III, December 20, 2005:

" * The evidence at trial demonstrates that ID is nothing less than the progeny of creationism.

* The overwhelming evidence at trial established that ID is a religious view, a mere re-labeling of creationism, and not a scientific theory.

* Accordingly, we find that the secular purposes claimed by the Board amount to a pretext for the Board's real purpose, which was to promote religion in the public school classroom, in violation of the Establishment Clause."

"Open-Minded" does not mean "free to subvert education to promote your own religion." If you don't like that, then just try and get the first amendment to the US constitution changed.

"perfectly fine with evolution being taught"

Because your educational stragedy (for now) is not to have church actually in school but to devalue scientific knowledge, you still need evolution to argue against.
It's not the only other argument that bothers you, it's the only rational, logical and scientific argument. It's also the most detailed theory covering what came before and showing how it fits with now.

Evolutional theory came up with predictions (Darwin made some himself) of what may be discovered in the future if the theory is right. These predictions have been vindicated, resolved, proven. Religion's failed at all predictions except the obvious.

This is because getting their lies set alongside truth is a victory for the liar, not for the honest man.

ID gets as much respect as its scientific validity entitles it to. That is to say, none at all. And so far, the proponents of ID have done nothing absolutely to change this.

ID supporters dont want true evolution taught in school. They want what they think evolution is taught along like inteligent design. last thing they want is a side by side fair comparason between evolution and ID because they know which one will end up looking better.

Creation or inteligent design are not on equal footing with evolution.

As soon as there is a scientific alternative to the Theory of Evolution, it will be taught.
Creationism/ID is not scientific so it can't be taught in Science classes.

ID people are perfectly fine with evolution being taught in Religion classes?
I doubt that...

6/12/2014 3:17:51 AM

The ID also people wanted to frame Evolution under their own description (if they couldn't get it completely removed)such as "Evolution is only a theory and has never been proved" (trying to destroy the weight behind scientific theory) " Many scientists dispute evolution theory" (Possibly referencing their lists of dentists and pharmacists they like to call scientific experts)

Many of these relabeling tactics made it onto textbook stickers and forewords. In some Bible belt states they've started implimenting laws that allow teachers to express their religious opinions about subjects without redress, effectively allowing them to tell students that evolutional theory is completely wrong.

"ID people are perfectly fine with evolution being taught"

No, in a science class we want to reject things that aren't science.

Don't you fucking get it? Science is like a dog show; Scientists want to include all dogs and have them judged fairly on their own merits. Creationists/IDiots show up with a story about a supernatural sky-pixie and when the scientists say "This show is only for dogs", they bitch about how the scientists want to "ban all alternate ideas" and are persecuting them for their religious beliefs. Creationists/IDiots insist on calling their sky-pixie a dog, and insist it be given the "best of show" trophy. It can't compete in any way with the show dogs, and they have no evidence of it or that it is the best in the show other than they "believe it is", "they read it in some 2000 year-old book", and "a lot of people believe" in their specific sky-pixie. Not only do they want their sky-pixie to be the only dog, anything that we currently consider a dog is "the work of the devil", "lies from the pit of hell", and "the source of all societal ills including murder, rape, child abuse, abortion, alcoholism, drug abuse, homosexuality, pornography, prostitution, and is what got mandatory prayers to their specific sky-pixie thrown out of public schools". Hitler and Stalin had dogs, you know. As such, they're the epitome of evil, and must be destroyed.

Creationism/IDiocy is NOT SCIENCE! It gets rejected because IT'S NOT SCIENCE!!! The Kitzmiller v. Dover verdict clearly says just that, in a court of law. If you reject that law, you're going to hell because your "holy book of morality" in Romans says "Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment."

We'll consider teaching of creationism in science class right after you allow teaching of evolution in your church. I'm sure IN YOUR CHURCH, GOD DOES FORBID ALTERNATIVES ARE TAUGHT. What's that first commandment say again? If you aren't teaching evolution in church, now who's "banning all mention of alternate ideas" and "not being open minded"? Your church should also be teaching EVERY OTHER creation myth, including the Egyptian myth that says the universe and everything in it is the result of Atum's masturbation. Stop banning alternate ideas! Teach the controversy and let the kids decide, you know.

6/12/2014 6:06:00 AM

No they are not. They don't want evolution taught. They want "the weaknesses of evolution taught." A straw man version that demonizes and exaggerates evolution.

Honestly I would prefer if creationists and ID supporters don't teach evolution at all. That would be more fair then the version they teach.

Two words: Wedge Document.

5/30/2015 1:01:43 PM

Just like your "tolerance" teaching the alternative explanation of evolution in your church.

Wait, you don't tolerate that?
