Not exactly. It was near the election when the economy really tanked.

No apparent reason? That's wrong for both Obama AND Hitler. Everyone had a reason to support both. Germany was wrecked from the Treaty of Versailles and Hitler did indeed promise Germany would rise again. He also scapegoated the Jews and gave the German people a common enemy to rally against. For Obama, everyone was sick and tired of 8 miserable years of the GOP and enjoyed the thought of a competent, well-spoken pragmatist in office instead of a barely-literate cowboy.

This is what politics in America has been reduced to: voting for the candidate people most want to have a beer with, mix in a healthy dose of irrational fear, loathing, race-baiting and xenophobia, and then invoke a little Godwin's Law and ta da, you have the GOP strategy...

I'll grant you that your first four points are attributable to Obama (although I have no idea how that compares to Hitler). Your fifth point is answered by your third and fourth points, and also to the fact that he's a great orator. Your sixth point is invalid, as he hasn't even taken office yet. And your last point is unfounded, based solely off of your paranoia.

Actually Obama bears no more resemblence to Hitler than say Ronald Reagan who actually fit your criteria better.

#2 True, but more experience than George W. Bush or Ronald Reagan(not that that's any great thing, Bush is a disaster, Reagan is hugely overrated).
#3 True, who's responsibility is that ?(Hint-see #2).
#4 True, but after our current Presidunce's total incompetence and pandering to his rich contributors at the cost of eveyone else, almost anything would rank as success.
#5 False, although not being Bush at this point may be enough for many people, Obama is promising to right eight years of terrible decisions by Bush and his GOP cronies.
#6 True, (hopefully) eight years of moral bankruptcy, lying, catering to the rich and greedy, and catering to the most prejudiced of the fundie Christians has reduced us to a disaster of epic proportions, economically, scientifically, healthwise, educationally, and in attacks on our personal liberty.

Actually--and I apologize for possibly appearing to defend a RR-tard, even though I'm not--they're not breaking that law. They're upholding it by causing the probability of someone mentioning Hitler and/or Nazis to reach 1.

If a "hot-button issue" argument ever happened where no one frivolously brought Hitler into the discussion, that would be a breaking of the Godwin Law.
