I graduated in 1995 and I remember being in about 5th or 6th grade and another student getting stabbed in the leg with a pencil...
But I do agree, violence among children is escalating and the natural love of many is waxing cold.
I homeschool my daughter. I'm so happy to be able to give her a biblical worldview.

But ladyhen, the Biblical worldview says that all men are wicked and evil begining with the Fall of Adam. The Bible says that in their hearts all men are "sinful." According to the Bible there is no "natural love." Why would you think that people just started to get violent in the last few decades?
Someone with such an appalling lack of knowledge of history should never be teaching anyone anything. And someone with such a poor grasp of the thenets of their own religion should never be taking an instructional position on religious matters.
Violence among children is escalating?
I did not know that.
Personally, it was unusual enough to witness a single fight-scene in all my four years of high school. Which I did. Mind you, it was scary, but still... Once in 4 years? In a school full of teenagers?

If homeschooling your poor kid to be able to give it a 'biblical worldview' isn't fundie as fuck then what is ?
Sometimes I think that some people are getting so numb by the stupid things fundies do or say, that they start to accept them as almost normal, hence the increased postings here of people stating that they find this kind of thing ... 'meh, not fundie'.
@Darn:
How do you know what that Biblical worldview is? Seriously, it might be fucked up or it might be love. We arent told. And yet, we label it as fundie. RR provides loads of fundie comments, but this is not one of them. Had she said something about hating other religions or people, then yes. But this isnt.
In fact, statistics show that school violence is now at its lowest point in decades; it's just the media that's hyping everything now and parents like you fall for it, to the great detriment of your children, who will probably turn out to be as neurotic as you are, not to mention brainwashed by your twisted version of "a biblical world view". And I'm willing to bet that "world view" you're teaching her doesn't include much "natural love" for gays or poor people who need assistance, does it?
Hey, I'm a public school student in a city and nothing bad has happened to me. The most violent thing that's ever happened was someone setting off some little lady-finger firecrackers. No one was hurt, and it was just kind of annoying.
Seriously, do some research.

Thinking you can do a better job of teaching your kids then trained professionals is, imho, a fundamentalist notion.
For instance here in europe there are very, very few people who will evenn contemplate it, and those who do are complete nutters most of the time.
This combined with the whole biblical thing and the suggestion that the world is only getting worse, and not to mention it's a post from rapture ready, makes it fundie.
It's fundie not because she's homeschooling, and not because she's homeschooling for religious reasons. It's fundie because she does not have the slightest clue what she is talking about, yet is so certain she is right.
See, that's the problem with a lot of fundies: they make major life-altering decisions on what they think the Bible says without ever actually bothering to find out for themselves.
But I do agree, violence among children is escalating
Yes, violence among children can be a problem
I homeschool my daughter. I'm so happy to be able to give her a biblical worldview.
So she didn´t learn many social lessons and also is ignorant of real science. This might be a good preparation for her future career as burger flipper or waitress ;)
Trying to destroy your daughter's brain I see.
Yes yes, just keep protecting her from all those dangerous public school children. Better make sure none of the children from the local school are on the FBI's top ten wanted list.
That's right, don't let her have a social life and a good education because you are afraid of the "what ifs".
You, my dear Ladyhen, are one of the reasons I am becoming a teacher. Remember, in most states your kid still has to pass the tests, or you get in some serious trouble.
Good luck, and hopefully your daughter will get a real teacher soon. An accredited Christian school would be fine.
I fail to see how a Biblical world view is any less violent than a non-Biblical one?
See, most kids who play video games CAN tell the difference between fantasy and reality. Can't say the same for Fundie kids...
I don't think violence in children is escalating. I'd say it is the media playing tricks. Kind of like their "summer of the shark." You know, that one summer that had no more shark attacks than the average summer? Things like school shootings are actually on the decline, and have been for quite a while. The media is just reporting them a lot more.
Anyone arrogant enough to reject the verdict of the judge or of the priest who represents the LORD your God must be put to death. Such evil must be purged from Israel. (Deuteronomy 17:12 NLT)
A man or a woman who acts as a medium or fortuneteller shall be put to death by stoning; they have no one but themselves to blame for their death. (Leviticus 20:27 NAB)
"If a man lies with a male as with a women, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives." (Leviticus 20:13 NAB)
My goodness, is this what we pass as morality?
No wonder kids are so fucked up.
Wow a pencil stabbing....fucking hardcore.
Aside from a few fights, my middle school was pretty tame. The only really big thing I personally witnessed was in 7th grade (2001 or 2002) Before math started the teacher was out of the room, my friend and this dumb bitch started fighting and my friend threw a desk at her. That was fucking awesome in my 13 year old eyes, considering everyone else in that class has probably thought about throwing SOMETHING at that dumb bitch.
I homeschool my daughter. I'm so happy to be able to give her a biblical worldview.
And then they come online and post stupid shit like
"If there is no God... who holds back the oceans from going over thier borders? "
But remember its all the damn liberals fault that they can't get decent jobs.
Edit:
Should mention I graduated in the 80's. I went to one school for a year, where there were two stabbings and the police used to come through the halls with drug dogs on a weekly basis. Of course all the dealers just kept the shit out in their cars.
I was bullied in middle-school, and one day in gym she pushed my last button and I went after her with a field hockey stick.
none of this hit the news though.
Even in my shitty, undeveloped country, sending your kids to primary school is mandatory by law. In addition, it's almost imposible to get a job with highschool only so the free state education is the best thing you can get (and it's not like in US. We have separated high's, economy, engineering, etc. And special schools for "slower" learners. And additional higher tests and tasks for talents). Basically, if you work hard, you can easily go to college.
What were you thinking with that homeschooling?
Most kids in this world are probably violent because they're mislead and, well, hungry. Fundie assholes think they're above it all, but really, are completely missing the point.
It being that instead of improving the world they're burying their noses in a book. Regardless of its veracity, reading doesn't solve problems alone and reading a single book only doesn't even help.

And he was absolutely correct.
"For Joshua drew not back the hand that held the javelin until all the citizens of Ai and the 32 cities lay dead"
Yeah, the Biblical view is really loving
I accidentally stabbed my leg with a pencil in 2nd grade. Hurt like a bitch, and the graphite is still under the skin.
Yeah, I have no real point, I just wanted to say that.
The biblical world view was centred on a small part of the Middle East. Its people and its religious leaders knew nothing or next to nothing of the Far East, Northern Europe, most of Africa, the Indian subcontinent, North or South America, Australasia, or anywhere else outside its narrow boundaries.
There is no such thing as a Biblical world view and if you teach her that there is, you will condemn her to a life of ignorance and penury.
The 'natural love of many' is not demonstrated by many of the posts I've seen on Rapture Ready, most of which seem to advocate hatred, violence and bigotry with the support, of course, of our Lord Jesus Christ (whose teachings you ignore).
Your 'biblical worldview' appears to be that the world will come to an end shortly and that you and your fellow-lunatics will be raptured and ascend to heaven, leaving the rest of us to die horribly in the wreckage. Teach your daughter that, and she will end up as insane as you are. I doubt if even Walmart would be interested.

Translation:
I'm so glad my poor little daughter will be indoctrinated into the same bat-shit crazy point of view as me, unopposed by any other points of view.
Confused?
