The supposition for blindly following God is based upon His/Hers/Its omnipotent, all-powerful perfection.
This, therefore, leads one to ask: why does God need any of us? If the Supreme Being is truly perfect and harmonious, why would they need anything?
If they are lacking anything, they aren't perfect. If they aren't perfect, they're flawed, and therefore do not deserve blind faith of any kind, and should perhaps be put forth to some sort of "Big Angry Sky Daddy" election. I'd nominate George Carlin, but he sadly passed on and is likely arguing with the All-Powerful as we speak, or no longer exists spiritually and is nothing but a decaying husk (whichever floats one's boat).
God can not need humanity, therefore, if He is truly perfect. That's out of the way.
So why make humanity? My personal thoughts have been that this is some sort of cyclical thing where we simply have to be put through the trials of the crappiness of Human Existence, and through continuous turmoil and learning, perhaps we, as humans, can achieve God's station in some manner, thus attaining some sort of goal required for the fabric of all reality to stay together. We don't become God, we don't dethrone God, we simply become awakened enough to be able to call him by his nick-name "Lucky" and get invited to his yearly barbecue.
That's all well and good, I suppose, but those who push religion on most people can't possibly believe that. God apparently demands supplication - complete obedience to Him and Him alone, or else face his wrath.
Now, disregarding all calls for "An Awesome God" who's the nicest and greatest, and most benevolent being in the history of ever, how is that the action of a "perfect being." God, the all-powerful perfect being, needs our worship? Why? Time to get all Descartes. *ahem*
Those actions show an inferiority complex or an obsessive control complex, both human frailties, and thus taking away from the claim of perfection.
If God doesn't need worship, does he demand supplication, suffering for his own amusement? Boredom? To impress the hot chick the next universe over? Once again, that indicates a negative trait. Negative actions, what we would call cruel and evil, invariably come from a need or want. I want to kiss you, I want your Game Boy, "hey old fellow, I'd really like your house, so get out before I shoot you."
A perfect being doesn't need or want.
These calls for a cruel God bore me to tears and make me wonder, "If it's true, why would I worship him?"
For the concept of God to work with me, he has to be an apathetic being doing something necessary. If He made us to worship him, he ain't no perfect being deserving my unquestioning praise. If He truly loves us as His children, and that's His motive, he's doing a piss poor job of it, leaving us to suffer at times, and therefore possesses neither the will or ability to help us. Once again, that ain't no perfect being.
Javier and any other strict follower of the "my way or the highway" belief system can't prove to me that any God that designs a specific, cruel and harsh system of "recognize ME or BURN" is worth my time.
I'd rather hang out with Lucifer in Hell.
