1. Considering that Christianity says "convert or go to hell", I think that's at least on par with "convert or die". And I'm not even sure the latter is Islamic teaching.

In Islam people who convert out of their own will, will be accepted. Forced conversions are forbidden. In Islam people of the book, Jews and Christians, must be respected en treated as equals . In the past taxes were higher for them and they were not allowed to hold high public and military offices but were allowed to hold lower offices.
