Do any of you remember the terrifying "Son of Sam" serial murders committed by David Berkowitz in NYC in the '70s?
This guy was a devotee of Satan who believed a dog named Sam was commanding him to kill strangers.
I was haunted by the creepy interviews he gave after his arrest. He giggled and smiled while babbling incoherently. And I remember his eyes. They were black and DEAD. Truly evil.
A hopeless wretch beyond redemption, right? Guess again. I'm thrilled to bring you the news that David Berkowitz was genuinely born again in Christ in 1987 and although he will never leave prison he is a FREE MAN! He has led many inmates to Christ, among them are his fellow Jews.
I've seen a more recent interview of DB and it's apparent he is a new creature in Jesus. The Lord's power never ceases to amaze me!! Through such a man as David Berkowitz God is demonstrating that no one is beyond His loving reach!

The right thing is never easy, and the easy thing is never right.
If that's all it takes to receive eternal redemption for wrongdoing, then there is no justice in the universe, let alone an omnipotent, benevolent force behind it.

How do you know he is not just faking it to get privileges in prison?
There are no people more gullible than christians. They will believe any shit they are told which is also why 100% of the victims of Nigerian advanced fee frauds or 411 frauds are christians.
The percentage of prison inmates, particularly lifers or those on Death Row, who convert to Christianity is rather amusingly high. Most sociologists think it's an attempt to find forgiveness for their crimes from a higher power (this goes double for the ones with death sentences).
I'd need proof Berkowitz was actually a better PERSON before I'd say his conversion meant anything.
Is this supposed to be convincing, the idea that I'll get to share heaven with the likes of David Berkowitz?
I've said it before and will again: I think Hell would be a far safer neighborhood for me. After all, Gandhi and Einstein and Kurt Cobain are supposed to be there.
When someone is incarcerated as punishment by society for their crimes, finding SOMETHING that will tell them that they're forgiven, ANYTHING at all, seems a big deal to them. It's the easy way out; "I'm not a bad person. Sure I killed loads of people and I'm being punished for it because that's how justice should work, but the invisible man in the sky says I'm good and will be rewarded."
Quite possibly you're not. So why, O BarbT do you want to give the impression that you are a slavering, drooling, mental case? Get a life sweetie.
You. Are. Kidding. Me.
You'll send the secular humanists to jail despite their focus on good deeds in this life, yet this psycho gets to go to heaven? This, in a less extreme form, is why I turned away from Christianity origianally. If I'm wrong and god exists, I'm gonna ask him if I can go to hell.
As long as he stays locked up, he can pray to a pokemon for all I care.
But seriously, he seems repented. It could all be a sham or a different shade of madness, but one can always hope...
So, what do those eyes look like now?
Blue and innocent?
Yeah, I tend to think not.
Moron. Your gawd sucks.

No he wasn't, and no he didn't. He wasn't crazy at all. He got off on shooting people and when he was caught, he came up with that crap to try and get a mental commitment instead of prison. I would assume that his "conversion" is just more of the same.
Thank the gods that I am not a Christian and won't be sharing heaven with the likes of Berkowitz, Dahmer and you. If I'm not reincarnated I'll cheerfully burn in hell with Ghandi, Buddha and every other decent person who didn't happen to "get saved".

*except T3H gheys!
This is RR I think this was clearly what he meant by the last part.
Well, if he's truly repented and accepted Jesus, that means he's a TRUE CHRISTIAN. Since we know the TRUE CHRISTIANS don't ever do bad things (the evil atheists, secular humanists, and liberal christians commit all the crimes) he's no longer a threat, so we should let him out of jail. I suggest that BarbT lets him join her church and move in with her family now that he's a brother in the faith. Sound like a good deal, Barb?
I had a golden retriever named Sam. He was the stupidest thing I'd ever seen. He used to lie on the electric fence, and when he got out, he'd run down to the highway and just sit there. Mentally retarded and god, I loved him. ^^
Old age is what killed the dumb thing anyway.
@GreenEyedLilo:
I'll fight you for Kurt. >.> Poor guy. Aparently, having sex with Courtney Love is like throwing a hotdog down a hallway - he needs some loving.
You excited you'll share Heaven with a murderer?
Hey, I'll be sharing Hell with cool people. Ghandi, for one.
Climate in heaven doesn't compensate for the nice people in hell. And having that, according to you, over 90% of educated people goes to hell, I guess that we'll be able to fix it in no time. Air-conditioned hell, here we come!

According to the Encyclopedia of Serial Killers (yes, it exists, I has one!) you're wrong.
You go ahead and share warm milk and cookies with dirt bag scum bucket I don't think sociopaths can be redeemed or changed .There is no cure for there mental illness.NO amount of Jesus and or happy happy thoughts or medication will ever Make him better. Once a crazy nut ball sociopath murdering scumb to give you this message. Woof woof woof woof .She said you'd get it.
And why does ,this piece of human excrement .Get a free pass to heaven but other who have done no harm to any in this world l don't ....
Sound and seems kind of like Bull shit to me....
The shootings happened before I was even born, so I don't really know what he was reported as or how he looked on TV. However, I still feel sorry for his supposed mental illness which supposedly helped lead to the crimes he commited. I would really be convinced to turn to Christianity if his mental illness were now cured, as opposed to before when he was not a Christian.
Of course, if God really did cure only people who convert to Christianity, it would be mean of Him to have created man as so easily susceptible to any religon besides that.
Either way, I don't believe it's fair that even unrepentant serial killers, who are Christians, supposedly can go to Heaven and loving people who are not Christians go to Hell, according to Christian theology. Of course, they'll just call me a "bitter athiest" for saying that, even though I'm more like a Militant Agnostic.
People who believe things like this are just sick.
According to them god allowed him to kill people in the first place. Loving, indeed.
So he gets tog o to heaven, despite being a serial killer, just beacuse he now kisses God's arse? While any atheists who try to be good people and help their fellow man go to hell simply because they didn't kiss his arse?
And you're fine with this?

It's religion, what's fairness got to do with anything? That's a secular concept.
My point exactly! You'd think an omnicient, omnibenevolent God would have thought of that first before designing a world...
Though Dexter and Katsuro stated it more succintly than me. : )
You are aware Barb that "Son of Sam"'s letter to Captain Borrelli(head of the task force after him) left at the murder scene ended with "God bless you in this life and the next".PS Most of Berkowitz's friends think it is another scam by a professional at dodging responsibilty for his crimes, and point out that NONE of his letters to them in 1987(or for YEARS afterward, until 1999) mention Jesus or religion.
This reminds me of a stand-up comic's routine about how convicts always find Jesus. The final bit was him describing a reporter interviewing a convict in prison:
Reporter: "And when did you find Jesus, sir?"
Convict: "Right after the police found me . He was waiting in the back of the police car."
So are you petitioning for his pardon? A lot of people still think he's dangerous, so you will have to do most of the work. But hey, when people tell you that you're crazy and undermining the public good, just tell yourself that they said the same thing to the apostles.
Of course, when he is released, he will need a place to live...how about in your home? Isn't that a great idea? Surely there's nothing for you, your family or your neighbors fear. Remember, he's been made a new creature in Jesus.
Confused?
