It's funny how Atheists and hardcore left liberals tout that there should be a seperation of church and state, and yet, they still take the day off.
Well in many cases it's kind of hard not to if the place you work at closed for a particular holiday. Didn't even think about that, did you?
Frankly, if they are so strong in their beliefs that church and state should be seperate, then they should show up to work on those holidays they hate so much
Church/state seperation has nothing to do with most holidays, save christmas. And just because someone favors church/state seperation it does not mean that they hate holidays, It would probably suprise you, but there are more christians who support the idea of church/state seperation than there are that don't.
Independence Day:
Isn't in any way a religious holiday and not a church/state issue. You lose.
for all the people who hate the founding fathers, who want to revise, interpret or dismantle the Constitution
You mean folks like the outcoing conservative administration that has done more to dismantle the constitution than any administration in US history?
for those who hate America, especially Michelle Obamanation,
Painting with a rather broad brush there aren't you? And frankly I also have been rather dissapointed in the actions of a government that openly violates laws, That tortures people, that detains people without without charge, without a finding of guilt or innocence, for an indeffinite period of time. I don't have to hate America to disapprove of what it's leadership is doing, Patriotism isn't blind devotion to the "dear leader".
they should be required to work, without holiday pay.
Now look hear dipshit, I spent 15 years in the hospitality industry, working at various positions in various hotels, and guess what there are no holidays in the hotel business, I was never given holiday pay, and now I'm self employed and I'll take any damned day I want to off.
Veterans Day: For all those who hate or disrespect the military, they should be required to work, without holiday pay.
It's not a religious holiday, and you don't get to decide someones opinion of the military or of veterans, regardless of what their political ideology is.
Thanksgiving:
Once again, it's a secular holiday and not a church/state issue.
For all those who do not understand or generally denounce the pilgrims faith in God, and the thanks they gave to God for sparing their lives that dreadful winter
The stated purpose of Thanksgiving isn't to deify the pilgrims belief in god, nor is it to kiss your deity's ass. Just because I'm an atheist doesn't mean I'm incapable of being thankful towards others.
those people should be required to work, without holiday pay.
Most businesses are closed on thanksgiving (Save hotels and a few other places) so are you suggesting that a goo, god fearing, christian such as yourself should have to miss your holiday because there's a low level mailroom clerk who has to sit there doing nothing because people like you required him to be there, and in many jobs that would also require his supervisor to be there also, and the supervisors support staff, and from there it all breaks down til everybody is forced to work on holidays.
Besides, you can't legally require somebody to work on any day.
Christmas: All atheists, non-believers and haters of Christianity and Judeo-Christian beliefs should act on their beliefs and ignore the holiday
For staters, I'd like to smack you upside the head with a Yule log, since it isn't your holiday to begin with and it would do you good to realize that. Just because they don't celebrate the holiday doesn't mean they don't have family members, especially children, that do, and their families would doubtless be disappointed that their parent/sibling/child/cousin/etc. wasn't able to attend because idiots like you say they can't.
Now I myself do not celebrate christmas but I do buy gifts for my children, would you have that taken away from them just because I don't believe in the same fairy tale as you do? On top of that you would have the same result as you would on thanksgiving with no one having the day off.
And last but not least, it's unconstitutional, because you would be favouring christians above all else, that is respecting an establishment of religion. You should be damn happy that the concept of church/state seperation exists, because if there was a religious government in the US I can tell you now, it won't be your religion, It may be christianity but it won't be whatever demonination that you think is right, and if it falls to the largest denomination in the US then you'll be required to be Catholic. So you might want to rethink the whole idea.
