To those who had to live through it, I can see how the Black Death could look like the end of the world. Remember that most people of the time had no real idea how large the world really was. I don't think it's coincidence that the area of the New Jerusalem in Apocalypse would make it roughly cover the entire area of the Roman Empire. That, to most Christians then, WAS the world entire.
However, Christians before you may not have had your puzzle-box mentality as to what the Last Days would consist of, to begin with.

I've come back in time from 2398...
I can see the "quadnorants" (quadrant of ignorants) of RR, Free Republic, Free Conservatives and Conservapedia, which we trace back to find as the creators of the "Quadnorant Nights" as they will come to be known in the future. Ranted on for over a century with their BS before eventually people smartened up and understood that fantasies can not feed their children. The next 75 years became known as the "Not Left Behind" were US had to catch up with the rest of the world.
