Quote# 54487

In regards to atheism and morality, the Barna Group found that atheists/agnostics in America were more likely, than theists in America, to look upon the following behaviors as morally acceptable: illegal drug use; excessive drinking; sexual relationships outside of marriage; abortion; cohabitating with someone of opposite sex outside of marriage; obscene language; gambling; pornography and obscene sexual behavior, and engaging in homosexuality/bisexuality. [1] Given the many diseases associated with homosexuality, the Bible prohibition against homosexuality is quite arguably one of the many examples where the Bible exhibited knowledge that was ahead of its time.

Evolutionist and atheist Richard Dawkins stated in an interview: “What’s to prevent us from saying Hitler wasn’t right? I mean, that is a genuinely difficult question."[4] The interviewer wrote, regarding the Hitler comment, "I was stupefied. He had readily conceded that his own philosophical position did not offer a rational basis for moral judgments. His intellectual honesty was refreshing, if somewhat disturbing on this point."[5]

In addition, there is the historical matter of deceit being used in a major way to propagate atheism from the time of Charles Darwin onward plus the issue of of atheistic ideology of communism being involved in the greatest mass murder of mankind in world history.

Per capita atheists and agnostics in the United States give significantly less to charity than theists even when church giving is not counted for theists.

When there are babies dying across the planet, famine, genocide being committed against innocent and the defenseless, sexual assaults and torture and basically the worst possible crimes against humanity being committed (usually in the name of an imaginary friend), you are whining and bitching about questionable behaviors?!? Sorry, we don't define morality as you do - as fucking prudes who know nothing about what it is to really live a life and therefore would outlaw everything based on a fucking book written by some of the world's most primitive people.

Thammuz, you have been lied to (and now you are spreading that lie.) Outside of Africa, Aids is primarily a homosexual disease; an appeal to ridicule ( http://www.nizkor.org/features/fallacies/appeal-to-ridicule.html) doesn't change that. See http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-wellbeing/health-news/threat-of-world-aids-pandemic-among-heterosexuals-is-over-report-admits-842478.html

I was going to bother debunking this wargarbl but then I saw it was from Conservapedia so it came pre-debunked.

I have nothing better to do right now, so here comes a point-by-point debunktion.

Who or what is the "Barna Group"? Is it a reliable and unbiased research center, perhaps? Given the source, I very much doubt it. And, after googling it, I see I was right to doubt.

I don't know about Americans, but atheists/agnostics in Sweden tend to think that:
* drug use and excessive drinking are dangerous
* it's nobody else's business who you have sex with or what gender you're attracted to, as long as you are all consenting adults not engaged with someone else,
* abortion is sometimes the lesser of two evils and has to be available for those cases
* many people live their whole lives with one person without getting married and very few people have a problem with that
* if you want to be seen as intelligent and educated (most Swedes do), you should limit your use of obscene language
* gambling, pornography and obscene sexual behavior are all your own business, as long as you handle it discreetly and responsibly, and again with the consenting adults.

There are no exclusively homosexual diseases, stupid, just as there are no exclusively homosexual sex acts.

I bet there is more after that quote that makes Mr Dawkins question seem reasonable. Quote mining is very close to lying, and we all know what the Bible says about lying, don't we? It's certainly not "morally acceptable".

Charles Darwin was a Christian, he even thought about becoming a priest. Hitler was also a Christian.
Communism is an economic and political system, and as such non-religious, not atheistic. But I bet you can't see the difference, Andy-pandy et al.

Citation very much needed for the last sentence.

I don't do illegal drugs. I did try pot a few times years back, and it did nothing for me whatsoever.

I drink far less alcohol than I used to. I've simply lost the taste for it, and for the morning after side-effects.

I met my wife ten years ago. I have not cheated on her once, even in the almost eight years before we actually got married.

I could go on, but I really cannot be bothered. This is just a typical Conservapedia bucket of fail, though I will admit to the liberal use of obscene language. Who the fuck gives a shit, anyway?
