Rod Weathers: It's absurd to deny that atheists are the heart of this. Who would torch a church but unfaithful, god-hating people? This is no assumption, but an overwhelming statistical fact.
TK: An arsonist would not, could not, be a "Christian". So who else but an atheist? Someone following Christ's teaching would never do arson. So, logically, one would assume it is a Godless person.

Hi Rod. I'd be very interested to examine the statistics you have of the religious affiliations of church torchers.
Some definitions:-
Christian = to torch churches if vengeful.
Conservapedia = unashamedly bone-headed posturing.
Rod Weathers and TK, = to pretend to statistical certainty.
Hovind = to use only water when washing without the use of soap.
American jailbird = Christian criminal who enjoys anal sex. (statistically, by far the greatest amount of American criminals are Christians)

I think it's terrible to commit arson, no matter who the victim is, or who the arsonist is. It is pretty rude of you to automatically rule out Christians as arsonists, though. Christians have done a lot worse in the past.
Good job offending every atheist. Some of the worst people I know are Christians. They hide behind the mask of Christianity, giving them an excuse to continue whatever it is they are doing since they think they are infallible as long as they ask Jesus Fucking Christ to forgive them.

Well, members of any other religion and any other sect of Christianity. And any crazy arsonist, regardless of his religion or lack thereof, who just likes to watch stuff burn and was in the area. Or even a member of that very church who felt betrayed by her party's election failure or something and just snapped.

Umm..statistical facts are that the majority of people who burn down churches tend to be racist, bigoted white southern baptists. The next in line tend to be midlleclass white kids who believe in god but prefer the "satan" idea of Christianity better.
I have never heard of an atheist burning a church down in America. Maybe in Russia during the revolution, but we ARE talking about American statistics here arent we?

The christian warriors during the crusades thought otherwise. Lots of building (even churches) were destroyed by fire that was laid by so called christian knights. I should also mention the 30 years war, the "holy war" between catholics and protestants, where no side showed to much scruples with regards to killing civilists, looting and setting fire on churches and other buildings. Whole regions in germany were depopulated during this war thanks to the actions of these "christian warriors".

If you hate God, you have to believe in him, to some extent. Ergo, you are not an atheist.
You can like the culture and history of a church-building, without believing that the building is the Home of the Lord. I would never arson a church, churches mean a lot to lots of people. They have the right to keep that building.
I'd say the most likely perpetrator is a Christian of another denomination. Or a Jew or Muslim.

Apparently TK has never heard of religious sectarianism before.
Also, I have the disturbing feeling that, if the object of the crime had been an abortion clinic, either TK would be perfectly fine with it, or, more likely, he simply wouldn't be commenting on it at all.
Most church vandalism would be the act of a disgruntled parishoner, outside church on church violence which is probably rare in Alaska. There is a chance it's a random act of destruction but I think it's more likely a grudge offense.
We'll never know unless there's a public confession, both the police and church will consider it an "in house" problem to be handled by the church and never publically exposed.
Two fold reason:
What happens in the church stays in the church, in America with full support from the law.
