Atheism vs. Christianity

- Atheism does not have missions to feed the hungry.
- Atheism does not have programs to give shelter to the homeless.
- Atheism does not trouble itself to help the poor or give to the needy.
- Atheism does not clothe the naked or visit the imprisoned.
- Atheism does not give hope to the despairing, does not give love to the needy soul, or open arms to the broken-hearted.
- Atheism does not seek to bring healing to any person.
- Atheism does not intend to encourage the down-trodden.
- Atheism seeks to tear down Love and stop its flow into the hearts of the un-loved.
- During the 20th century, atheists (mostly communists, such as those who followed Stalin) slaughtered untold millions of Christians, Jews, and people of many other religions for the sake of their faith. This still goes on today in places like China.
- Atheism seeks to destroy the hope of Jesus Christ and take love away from a world of people in need of care. In the name of science they proclaim, "there is no God", "we evolved from slime", "the cosmos is an accident". Declaring as gods the foundations and fate of the universe, they ignore the needs of the hearts of men to know that there is a Divine Creator who loves them.
- Because an atheist got God banned from public schools, our children must pass through metal detectors on their way into school where they score worse and worse on educational tests and morals are at an all-time low. They must remember each day the school massacres of the past few years and wonder... if... when... where... who... Does anyone stop to think that this downward trend started the year God was banned from schools?

- Churches have missions to feed the hungry.
- Christians help the poor and clothe the naked.
- Bible-carrying evangelists visit the sick and imprisoned to bring redemption to those that are forgotten and thrown away.
- Preachers minister the healing power of God to those who dare to have faith and forget that miracles are impossible.
- The children of God travel the globe to give light to those in the dark, to show the love of Jesus living through themselves to the ones that He died for 2,000 years ago.
- Jesus gives the world His hope of eternal salvation, His gospel of love, His healing for body and mind and heart.
- It is the Christians, believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, who care for the world enough to take a chance on alienating themselves by sharing the hope of salvation with others.

- Atheism does not have missions to feed the hungry.
[ except, y'know, for all those atheists who actually do something but don't tout it to the four winds. ]
- Atheism does not have programs to give shelter to the homeless.
[ no, we tend to go for the causes rather than alleviating the consequences. Such as, y'know, education, medicine, science, things like that. ]
- Atheism does not trouble itself to help the poor or give to the needy.
[ see above. Also, Bill & Melinda Gates would like a word with you. ]
- Atheism does not clothe the naked or visit the imprisoned.
[ nah, we just do it without proselytizing. ]
- Atheism does not give hope to the despairing, does not give love to the needy soul, or open arms to the broken-hearted.
[ blah, blah, blah. ]
- Atheism does not seek to bring healing to any person.
[ define healing. Except for all the godless science and such. ]
- Atheism does not intend to encourage the down-trodden.
[ LOL. Right. Because the many associations and funds for helping poor, down-trodden people don't exist. ]
- Atheism seeks to tear down Love and stop its flow into the hearts of the un-loved.
[ oh please. You're the one so unloved you need to make up a sky daddy. ]
- During the 20th century, atheists (mostly communists, such as those who followed Stalin) slaughtered untold millions of Christians, Jews, and people of many other religions for the sake of their faith. This still goes on today in places like China.
[ that is true. And then there's the Inquisitions, Crusades, the religious wars in the Middle East, Hitler, and the like. And funnily, I hear no such thing of Chinese people doing that anymore, though I might be wrong. If you want to go there, I'd like to point out there has never been a war in the name of Buddhism. Ever. ]
[ no. We just promote love and goodness for love and goodness' sakes, not to escape hellfire. We don't need escapism. We need solutions, the same solutions the "godless science" provides and religion doesn't. Kindly report to the Middle Ages. ]
[ oh shut the fuck up. That's not true and you know it. Care to see all the atrocities committed by adults on children in so many religious schools in all different times of history? The rods? The beatings? The rapes? ]

Arguing the consequent is irrelevant, regardless of how long or how true your list is.

OhSoHappyNow...

Why do they worry so much about athiests? If they feel they are right and heaven bound, why all the nastiness? If they could shut their mouth, put down their bacon sandwich, and turn off fox news for ten minutes- maybe they could read the bible and and worry about their own issues for once. Once again, this is just a "We're better than you" arguement. Very Christlike...*rolling eyes*

- Churches have missions to feed the hungry.
- Christians help the poor and clothe the naked.

Secular charities, as others have already said before me, do this as well. The school at which I teach is actually funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

- Bible-carrying evangelists visit the sick and imprisoned to bring redemption to those that are forgotten and thrown away.

Oh yes, it is an absolutely wonderful thing to tell a murderer on death row that he can get into Heaven as long as he repents, since Jesus loves him and all that, especially when you grab your picket sign as you walk out the door and start screaming "God hates fags!"

- Preachers minister the healing power of God to those who dare to have faith and forget that miracles are impossible.

Please, name me one miracle that is completely unexplainable by modern science. Your "miracles" are nothing more than Bronze Age God-of-the-Gaps nonsense.

Spare me your self-righteous theobabble. What you're basically telling me is that you would be a horrible person if you didn't believe in Jesus. And you know what? I believe you.

There are no specifically atheistic organizations to do things like that, but there are secular ones. It's called humanism, thank you. Oxfam is a good example - 'be humankind'. There's no mention of God in their campaigns.

It's been said, but same for me. I was homeless recently and it was secular agencies that gave me shelter and helped me get disability. I didn't have to attend any religious ceremonies in order to get the help I needed.

(though I'm more of an agnostic than an atheist)

All of your stupid assumptions can be answered by looking it up on the internet.

Mr. Creazil

Wrong on all counts. We have charities, and we don't need to convert people before we help them.

- Atheism does not have missions to feed the hungry. etc.

Neither does a morality which is only based in ABORTIAN IS EVIL and GAYS ARE GOING TO HELL, neither of which the founder of Christianity, Jesus, actually talked about, Eternal Choice.

Errick, congratulations on being able to find help. I hope you are doing well now.

And I'm agnostic myself! All beliefs are welcome to comment here, as long as no attempted preaching or conversion is done.

I stopped to think....and it hurt my head.

We do donate money, time and effort to charities & DO give hope to the despairing, but we just don't brag about it or do it for any other reason than just out of the kindness of our hearts. You Fundies do it to procure some sort of seat in your fictional heaven or win brownie points or some shit.

????

Just because it doesn't have ATHIEST stamped on it, that doesn't mean it's not athiest. Many charities don't invoke God in their activities, and are by definition athiest.

[i}' Because an atheist got God banned from public schools, our children must pass through metal detectors on their way into school where they score worse and worse on educational tests and morals are at an all-time low. Hi! High schooler here! I do not have to pass a metal detector entering school. I am atheist, and I'm on top of all of my classes. (Believe it or not, I do not even have pray to get good grades! Fancy that!)

So next time you're about to open your mouth about things you don't know, just stop. Instead, go have a beer or something.

"- Atheism does not..."

Well...

"- During the 20th century, atheists (mostly communists, such as those who followed Stalin) slaughtered untold millions of Christians, Jews, and people of many other religions for the sake of their faith. This still goes on today in places like China."

Yes and religion has given us the Inquisition, Dark Ages, burning times and witch trials, and the theocratic messes of Iran and Saudi Arabia, amongst other things.

"Does anyone stop to think that this downward trend started the year God was banned from schools?"

Don't you think secularism might not have anything to do with this. Maybe kids are motivated to hate and kill others from taunts and bullying.

"- Bible-carrying evangelists visit the sick and imprisoned to bring redemption to those that are forgotten and thrown away."

Yeah they also condemn all who disagree with them with threats of hellfire. They also spew gall and hate against non-believers, homosexuals, and those with other political beliefs.

"- Preachers minister the healing power of God to those who dare to have faith and forget that miracles are impossible."

If I ever magically become "healed" by a preacher laying his hands on me, or witness it firsthand, I'll let you know.

"- The children of God travel the globe to give light to those in the dark, to show the love of Jesus living through themselves to the ones that He died for 2,000 years ago..."

I don't really think Uganda's "kill the gays" bill many christians support counts as "showing the love of Jesus".

"- Jesus gives the world His hope of eternal salvation, His gospel of love, His healing for body and mind and heart."

Worship and suck up to me, or spend eternity in unspeakable torment.

Sorry if I don't find the message to be loving.

Bullshit, all the crazy fundie churches near me use all their fucking donations for radio ads.

Atheism isn't an organization like religion is, so you're really just making an apples to oranges comparison.

As Atheism is just a lack of belief in any gods, you are sort of right. There is no Atheism Organization, just individuals doing what good they can for others. They do it for the other person's sake, not to get brownie points in heaven.

Apparently, Christians don't do any of this shit, either. There are a billion Christians in the world, claiming some of the wealthiest people alive and controlling more of the wealth on Earth then any other group. Yet we still have poor people. I guess you'll do that whole "whatsoever you do unto the least of my brothers, that you do unto me" thing once you've pogromed all the gays out of existence and forced rape victims to live with a living reminder of their violation, right?
